Chapter 23

Noah's POV

Soon we reached the hospital and I parked the car. I got out and then helped Austin doing the same. Once I locked the car, I took his hand in mine and we went to see the doctor.

"Hello! How may I help you? " The receptionist asked as we came across her.

" Hello. We have an appointment with Doctor Max today. "

" He is expecting you two. Just go straight and take a left and you'll find his cabin."

"Thank you!" She just nodded so we made headed towards Doctor Max. Once we reached, I knocked on the door and got inside with Austin. We greeted him then took a seat.

"How are you feeling, Austin?" He asked

"Good. Just a bit of pain when I move." Austin replied

"That's common. I'll do a check up then you are all good to go. Come with me." He said as he got up from his seat. I helped Austin to get up and followed behind the doctor. We reached a room where there was a lot of machines installed.

"You can have a seat there while we are gone." Max said as he and some nurses helped Austin lay on a bed and they pulled a green curtain avoiding me to see what's happening.

I sat down and waited until they were done. After waiting for 45 minutes they came back with Austin limping. I got up and took his hand in mine and guided us to the doctor's table again. After we got settled Max wrote something on a paper then look at us.

"Seems like you are all good now. You must try to do some more movements with your hand. The pain will still be there so I'll prescribe some medicines for it. This is a cream that you must apply on your bruises so that they get healed." He said while taking a tube of cream from his cupboard. He handed me the cream and the prescription.

"You can buy them at the medicine store near the entrance."

"Okay. Thank you." I said and we shook hands. Austin grabbed my hand and we left. I unlocked the car and helped him in.

"I'll be right back in a few. Imma just buy go and buy the medicines." I gave him a kiss on the forehead and walked away. I got to the medicine store and had to wait in the queue. The store was filled with peoples. I keep waiting and thinking about Austin. I had really fallen for him. He seems to be liking me but I'm going to give him his space. Tho I want him to be mine so badly I can't force him. I can't take the risk of losing him. He has no one except for me and the twins.

I broke out of my trance when I felt someone tapping my shoulder. I turned to the side and saw that it was someone I didn't know.

"Its your turn." He says while pointing to the front. I looked in front of me and saw that it really was my turn. I advanced forward and handed the girl the prescription. She gave me the medicines and I paid for them. I got outside and went to the car.

I got in the car and saw that Austin was fiddling with his fingers and had a worried face.

"Are you okay?"

"Why did you take so long?"

"There was a lot of people. That's why."

"Okay." He said and turned to look outside the window. I put on my seatbelts and told Austin to do the same but he didn't hear me. He seemed to be lost. I grabbed his hand and gave it a squeeze. That seemed to get his attention. When he turned and look at me I was met with his tear stained face. I got worried so I engulfed him into a hug.
When I felt that he was not hugging me back I felt both disappointed and scared. I thought that was a big mistake because he was not fully comfortable with me yet.

Just as I was going to pull back I felt a tight grip on me. Austin had hugged me back. A small smile crept on my face. I rubbed his back up and down until he had calmed down. When he started to pull away I did the same and back away. I wiped his tears with my hand and asked

"Why are you crying?"

"I -I just thought t-that you had left m-me." If I wasn't that close to his face I wouldn't have heard what he had said. It was just above a whisper.  I took his hands in mine and said.

"I would never ever leave you Austin. Don't ever think that. Okay?"

"Okay. But why do you want to stay with me forever? We are just friends."

"Um.... I am more than your friend Austin. That's why I'm not going to leave your side ever." He seemed to be shocked by my answer but then said

"What do you mean?"

"Sadly I can't explain more than that. You just have to wait and see."

He sighed then said "Okay. You promise you won't leave me?"

"I promise you I won't ever leave you. I'll always be there for you."

"Thank you. You are very sweet. I like you." I couldn't move. I was frozen in my place. I couldn't believe he said that. Austin said he likes me. He likes me. Without thinking I wrapped my a tightly around him and hugged him. When I felt his arm on my back I pulled away. I realized what I had done.

"I'm sorry." I said while looking down. I was afraid he would think that I am crazy. I fiddled with my finger waiting for him to say something.

He lifted my chin and made me look at him then said.

"What are you sorry for?"

"For hugging you again."

" I didn't mind. I actually like being hugged by you."

God that boy is going to make me get a heart attack one day. I just wished I could kissed him. His lips looked so...

"Noah we must leave now." He said while waving his hand in front of my face.

"Yes. We must. Put on your seatbelt." Once we were settled I started the car and drove to my grandma's place thinking about what has just happen.
