As the bell rang for lunch, Hae-won watched Chan scurry out with the rest of the kids.
It's been about, a week since Chan and Hae-won have been paired up as partners but they hardly made any progress.
Hae quickly grabbed her book bag and ran behind Chan, not too close, just a far enough distance for Chan not to notice her. But once they entered they went their once separate path, Chan sharply turning to the right while Hae walked forward.
As Chan was making his way to his lunch table he was greeted by Jun, smiling like an idiot and pointing to a girl who was too busy talking to Soonyoung to notice. Jun mouthed the words, 'Hot' as he gestured Chan to sit down beside her, Chan shuffled towards the table sitting awkwardly beside the girl. It only took a few seconds for the girl to turn around a get a look a Chan, she gave him a smile. Chan could instantly tell it was a fake one, but he didn't mind, he enjoyed it a bit.
They talked for a bit, while the rest just observed. As if they were thinking if she was compatible with Chan, he soon learned her name was Rei. Minghao quickly came up behind him a gave him a pick-up line, which sounded way better in his head.
"I have beautiful eyes- wait no! I-I mean you, you have beautiful eyes," he said sheepishly, Rei giggled as she placed her hand on his. Which took Chan by surprise making him now a bit uncomfortable,
"You're really funny, you know? And quite handsome." She whispered the last part, now Chan was completely dumfounded. He grew awkward by the second wishing he would get away from Rei, but he couldn't.
His friends were trying to help him find a lover, which he thought he did. Until he messed it up by hurting the girl, well, it was his friends idea to hurt her.
And then his savior came, Hae-won!
He saw her awkwardly making her way to their table, casually being pushed from time to time. When she finally made it Chan was literally giving a prayer of thanks,"Oh, hi." She said stretching out the 'I' as she noticed Rei's hand on Chan's, quickly pulling it away Chan realized Rei was studying her. As if she was trying to figure out if this petite girl in glasses could be a possible threat to her, Hae-won and Rei stared at each other for a few more seconds until Hae-won starting shaking her head.
"Oh sorry, how rude of me. I'm Hae-won, Chan's..friend." Hae-won forced a smiled as she waited patiently for Rei's
"Rei, Chan's girlfriend." Rei had a small smirk on her face as Chan's eyes widened when that word came out of her mouth, Hae-won and Chan were blushing as they were trying to figure out what was happening.
Hae-wons face lit up as she opened her book bag and fished around in there trying to find something, when she did she shot it up into the air as if it was some holy thing.
Chan's friends looked as confused as Rei was but Chan knew instantly what that was, his favorite book.
"Since you're Chan's, uh, girlfriend. I suggest you read him this book! We read it about a few times, he really likes it. And-" she stopped herself, she facial expression got dark as she remembered what Chan did to her.
She quickly passed the book to Rei and and turned to Chan,
"If you want to work on the project tell me after school," she told Chan before speed walking to the her brothers table.
Even if it was ten minutes since Hae-won left he still kept his eyes on her, the thing that intrigued him the most was the way Hansol, one of Mingyu's friends. Made Hae-won smile, Chan wished he could make her smile like that. He did before, and he would do anything again just to make her smile.
