Chapter 10

This chapter is dedicated to JackyVB for her AWESOME comment. Thanks for your help! Also I have made an important change to the story at the beginning of the first chapter so go back and read that. Otherwise things from here on out might not make any sense.

Bella's P.O.V.

I heard a shrill sound coming from my pocket. Oh, right. It was the cell phone Edward bought me, insisting that I always have it. Not that I care anymore. My baby girl has vanished.

As the thought crossed my mind a sob escaped my body. I haven't been the same since she's been gone. For example, normally I wouldn't just abandon the rest of the family. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

I composed myself and ansewered the phone as stongly as I could. "Hello?"

Despite my valliant efforts, my voice shook. Brilliant. Now whoever is on the other line will think I'm weak.

"Hello, Bella Cullen. That is a very lovely dress you're wearing." said the voice on the other line.

Automatically, my head whipped up and began searching for the caller.

"Thanks." I said, stalling. The longer I kept them on the phone, the more likely it was that I would catch them.

A cruel, harsh laugh sounded in the phone. "You're very welcome. Now the reason I have for calling is to tell you that I have your daughter."

I gasped and fell to the ground. "Please return her! I'll do anything! You can have me instead! Please just don't hurt her!"

The voice sounded amused at my reaction. "I have no intention of hurting her. In fact, I will let you talk to her."

A flicker of hope lit inside me. "Mommy?" I heard her say.

I collapsed in a fit of dry sobs. "Mommy's here baby. You're gonna be fine. We're gonna get you out of there. I promise."

Pause. "I love you, Mommy."

"I love you too, baby."

Her kidnapper was back on the phone. "Now. I am going to turn her in to the Volturi at midnight tonight. Good luck."

The line went dead. I was confused. What would they gain by turning her in to the Volturi?

I dialed his number and put the phone to my ear.

"Hello?"

"Edward......I need help."
