Lily-Luna's Point of View
I had slept horribly that night; knowing the whole world rested on your shoulders wasn't a great feeling. And to top that off, the bed Caden's family let me sleep in was scratchy and pokey. I tossed and turned as I slept a dreamless sleep. The next morning, I woke up to a burning. Pickles. I groaned. I didn't want to open my eyes. Not now. Not here. Wherever I was, I knew it wasn't a good time. I sighed. I sat up in the cot, my eyes still closed.
"Caaaaaaaden?" I asked, stretching and yawning. My response was not the 'Yes, Miss Lily?' I was expecting.
"Are you supposed to be our guardian and keep the elements in balance?" I opened my eyes. A boy, about the same age as me, stared in shock. Genuine shock. That made me mad, and my Weasley side definitely showed then.
"What does that mean, exactly?" I said sassily, my hands on my hips and giving him 'the look'.
"You're a girl."
"Thank you, Captain Obvious."
"Well, girls can't protect us from the elements."
"And why not?"
"Because they're girls. Girls stay at home and clean and cook, and men go and actually do stuff." What happened next was kind of like what would happen if Aunt Hermione had a Weasley temper.
"Ladies can work, too! Ladies can be in the military, or be the president, or work in a mine, too! We can do whatever we want!"
"Yeah, right. Name one lady who was a leader in the wizarding world." He knew about that?
"Aunt Hermione!"
"One more?"
"I would be able to name millions if it weren't for people like you who lowered girl's self-esteems!" I paced the room, throwing my hands in the air. The room was more of a hall. Like the ones kings and queens would serve food in. It was huge, and fire surrounded it. I didn't care, because apparently I was immune to fire, as I found out in the hospital room. It was dark, and blood dropped from the walls.
"Bloody underworld!" Last time I cursed, Mum exploded. I knew better now.
"Exactly."
"What?"
"Your right."
"I'm not dead, though."
"Now look who's Captain Obvious." He smirked.
"My name's Lily-Luna. Lily-Luna Potter."
"Obviously. Again." I was liking this boy less and less as each minute went by. I asked him his name.
"Doesn't matter." He mumbled.
"Okay. I'll call you Samuel, then."
"Why?" I shrugged in response. He rolled his eyes, as if to say 'you're so annoying'. I rolled my eyes back. Samuel was rude.
"Well?"
"Well what?"
"Are you going to tell me why I'm here?"
"You know." I groaned as loud as possible. If I was supposed to spend more then 2 minutes with this guy, someone was going to die.

Samuel explained that this was phase two of becoming the gaurdian. Phase 3 was coming next. Apparently, with Caden I was in phase 1, water. Now I'm at fire, soon it'll be earth, and last will be air. We bickered again. It started at around 9:00, I think, and went until about noon. He said, 'I still can't believe it's you.' I replied in annoyance, and he went on and on about how I was dainty, and fragile, and weak. Pfft. I live with three boys. And one's James. And the only other girl grew up around boys. Anyways, he stormed around the room, as there was no exit. He cursed a lot. He sounded like Uncle Ron.
"Why is it her? She's a stupid little--"
"I dare you to finish that sentence." He rolled his eyes. Again. "Stop rolling your eyes!"
"Make me."
"Oh I will. I will." I walked up to him, but a ring of fire appeared around me, blocking me from Samuel. It knocked him backwards, and he landed on his butt. I laughed at him.
"Oh shut up! You've made him mad enough!"
"Who mad enough?"
"I can't say. The name's taboo." I groaned. "Would you stop groaning?" I glared at him. He glared right back. This was going to be hard.

Later that evening, I was twiddling my fingers when a voice boomed.
"IT IS I, HADES, GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD! YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO GAURD THE ELEMENTS WITH YOUR LIFE!" I looked around. What was going on? I didn't understand. "YOU HAVE TO GO TO A NEW ELEMENT, AS YOU HAVE PROVED YOU CAN HANDLE FIRE." I didn't prove-ohhhh. I calmed the ring of fire I had made. It was easy, really. Just whisper to it how nice it is and how it's so very pretty. What am I doing with my life? I'm a fire whisperer. Cheese puffs, that sounds weird. Suddenly, I was shaking. The ground beneath me starting elevating. I rose higher and higher until I sprouted out of the ground. I literally sprouted out of the ground. I opened my mouth to speak, but an angelic voice spoke over me.
"Hush, child. I am Demeter, goddess of grain and harvesting. I protect this land and all around." Her voice was smooth and calming. It danced around my ears in wisps of cotton candy. Wait a second. If she's protecting the land, why do I have to as well? I'm not immortal. Why waste time looking for a guardian if we have the Greek gods? I apparently said this aloud because Demeter replied with that same, soft voice. "Darling, we have to have mortal on earth protecting it as well. Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades fight a lot. With them busy quarreling over who's their mother's favorite, someone has to keep the world in check." She sounded like a chocolate fountain, if that would make noise.
"Why me?" I couldn't help agreeing with Samuel. I was only nine, not even old enough to do magic! How was I supposed to balance the elements if I couldn't balance how omuch time I spend with each of my cousins? I groaned. This didn't please the goddess.
"Don't worry. It'll be easy. For now, you will train. When you are old enough Caden shall retire and you shall reign as Guardian of the Elements. Won't that be fun?" Easy. Pffft. Easy wasn't how I would describe it, but oh well. I fell on the ground, which felt like the muggle trampoline we have in the backyard. Demeter said something else but I was drifting asleep.

It's honestly really sad when you can tell your story is horrible. Ugh. I use italics way too much, and underlining for that matter. What about bolding? Anyways, please vote and comment and that stuff! Luv ya bunches! 😊
