It was the weekend. I have waited for that for so long . School has just started but we were already tired by it. That's something that adults can't understand or yes, because they had felt the same way, but they deny it now, in front of us. Anyway, the weekend was relief for me. Daddy was still working the morning but, most of the afternoon, he was with me, at home. I missed him during the week that was true but I knew it was only for work.
When I removed my books from my bag this week, I saw a little paper note falling at the same time. I grabbed and read:
"To my future friend, good luck with your homework! Me I won't do it! Too lazy ;-) I hope we'll still talk in the bus like we did. T'was fun!
D.A. Jason
P.S.: Got to try for me to get along with Mike. He isn't bad at all, you'll love him ;-)"
I smiled at myself. Jason was really kind and this note was the proof that what he had said to me in the bus was sincere. I got my attention back to my work and started learning our first chapter in literature. Miss Taylor was right, it wasn't going to be easy every day. I was still looking at the lesson like if it has been right in an E.T. language when I heard knocking at my door. I ran downstairs to open my white and heavy wood door. Janet was standing outside smiling.
"Hey! How are you doing?" I smiled
"Oh, I'm good. That's my mother who sent me to see you. Is your father here?" she asked
"No, I'm sorry he's out now. Working. But he'll be here in a moment."
"Oh, that's not a problem, you'll tell him." Her long red dress was fitted her damn well. She was really beautiful and she might have been a model. "In fact, my Mom wanted to invite both of you at home for dinner. You know, we would like to know you better, you are our neighbors. And Mom always did that kind of things with new neighbors. And you're also new in town. Like that you'll new more people from here 'cause our family isn't so small."
I was literally drinking each words coming out of her red lips... And something embarrassed me... She was inviting me to her home... She was my neighbor... But she was related to Michael ...
"I will talk about that to my dad. But do you inform Michael about it?"
She knitted her perfect eyebrows.
"No he doesn't know it yet! Wait, you know who's my little brother don't you?" she smiled
"Hum..." what on Earth had made me said that to her? Now she will really want me to come if I know Michael. "In fact we're in the same class. But talk to him about that really... I don't wanna make him feel uncomfortable in his own house..."
"Why would he feel uncomfortable?" she kept asking
"You may ask him, I'm sure he will tell you. By the way, I'll talk about it with my dad and we'll see."
"Ok thank you Meg'!"
I looked at her, leaving, still asking herself some questions. Why did I say her little bro will be uncomfortable with me around? What does it mean?
I sighed as I think that she would have two choices: still be friendly with me and don't give a fuck about what Michael will think or just stop talking to me and act like her jerk of brother! I knew the first choice was more likely to be chosen by her. By the way Janet was a grown woman and she wouldn't care about what Michael thought. I would like to have a sister like that. Just having a sister will be good.
Later, I heard another knock on my door. I guessed it was Janet who had asked Michael about the dinner and who came back to tell me it wasn't going to happen finally. But, behind the doors, it wasn't Janet but Sheryl!
