Together we went out the large metal double doors and started walking along the corridor. I tried to stop my hands from fidgeting with the velcro on my pants, but I just went back to it. I was nervous I realized. I was the new kid at school again, and everyone would be paying attention to me, or as Uncle Hugh would say when looking someone down "sizing me up". I was thinking about where I would sit when a blur of movement went whirling past my face. I looked around trying to see what caused it when a boy came running around the bend in the corridor and looked to me like he was going to attack Amaris and I when he sprinted up to Amaris and locked her in a bearhug. She gave a yelp as surprise when he lifted her off the ground.

"Hey beautiful! What's cookin' good lookin'?" He said, putting her back down. She was smiling, which was a relief to see after the conversation we just had.

"Who's this handsome young lad?" The kid said, one arm around Amaris's shoulder, and the other on his hip. He was a good looking guy, with dark skin, curly black hair that I could see had been cut short, and light brown eyes. His posture indicated that he wasn't looking for a fight, but he had muscular arms and long cut legs that worried me.

"Calvin, this is Soren, Soren, this is my best friend Calvin" She said chuckling.

"What's up man, nice to meet you" He said casually putting his hand out. I attempted to grab it for a handshake but when my hand got close to his it was pushed away by something. I tried again but was met by the same force. I looked up at him to see a big smile plastered against his face.

"I'm sorry dude I couldn't resist, I'm an air manipulator." He said laughing.

"Nice to meet you" I said trying to sound casual, but ended up just sounding squeaky and nervous. He gave a grin and looked back to Amaris.

"I was scared half to death when I heard your name called this morning, then I didn't see you in Harkens class this afternoon." His eyes went wide with realization when he looked at me.

"You were the reason she was called huh?" He said, his voice rising.

"But why did they need you?" He continued, looking back at her quizzically.

"Ms. Lincoln thought it would be best that Soren had another youthful face to show him around once he woke up. She also thought it would benefit me to practice some healing" she said looking sorry, but not quite.

"Practice! I was practice! What if you messed up and like drowned me or something!?" I yelled, waving my hands around. Calvin was laughing and so was Amaris.

"I wasn't hurting you Soren, just healing, its my specialty." she said still giggling.

"She's right, my baby girl here is the best water healer in Natura" he said, giving her a friendly shove. My insides froze when I remembered something, and immediately started scolding myself for not realizing sooner.

"Where's Sam and Hurley?" I said in a small voice. Both Amaris and Calvin looked confused and didn't respond at first.

"I don't know who they are but I did overhear your Ms. Lincoln talking to Harken about dropping off some kids, so maybe they were those kids?" I tried to relax as I was thinking about all the bad things that could have happened to them by now.

"I'm still going to ask Alyssa about what exactly she did with them." I said, calming down slightly.

"Hey man, maybe some food will do you good, It's pasta night." Calvin said, giving me a wild eyed look.

"You're scaring him you dope" said Amaris, as she started down the corridor again.

"C'mon you two, I'm starving!" and I realized I hadn't eaten all day, and was really excited to put something in my stomach.
