The sky was clear and the sun shining. It was a perfect day in Washington, surprisingly. So maybe it's the way the sun shone in my eyes, or that I'm nervous about the first day at a brand new boarding school but I would swear on the Bible in front of a jury that I had just seen a girl walk through the wall of the school building.

Obviously I was skeptical when I got a phone call from one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the country and they gave ME, a barely passing student, a full ride scholarship. Plus I had just been expelled from my old school for supposedly causing the football field to collapse into the underground locker rooms, which was impossible. I was just the only one around to witness it. To be honest, I have no idea what had actually happened. The football field was there, and then it was six feet under. Literally.

The car pulled closer to the main building. The place seemed to grow the closer the car came. What was already a large set of immaculately designed buildings grew into even more buildings. It made me wonder how many people actually went here.  When the car stopped, my luggage was out of the back trunk before I had the chance to get out of the car. The man who had chauffeured me was already lugging my things to an entirely different building.

"Wait! Sir, should I follow you?" I called after him. He just nodded towards the main building that he had pulled in front of.

On the steps of the impressive ivy covered building, stood two women arguing. One looked to be around my age, while the other, I guessed, was a teacher. She wore her hair back in a tight bun and a black pantsuit with absolutely no wrinkles. I had to wonder if she ever sat, because I've worn tux pants before, and they wrinkled like no one's business. I pushed forward towards the two arguing.

"But I told you SHE did it! Look at the tapes again! Or better yet, let ME see the tapes!" The young girl said, raising her voice. I would have never raised my voice at a woman who looked like that, but hey, that's just me.

"Ray, I understand that you are angry, and both you and Thea have some strange rivalry thing going on, but there is no reason to assume that Thea destroyed your room." The woman tried to reason. That's when I noticed another girl, whom I'm guessing is Thea, leaning against the wall, arms crossed and looking beautiful and surprisingly calm for someone being accused of vandalism. It's as if she already knew she wouldn't be blamed for the crime. As if she felt me staring at her, she turned giving me a look that told me immediately that she was guilty and that she knew she wouldn't be caught. It was in her smirk, the one that made her look like the most confident girl in the world. She turned back to the argument. Ray glared at Thea. Thea smirked at Ray, the kind of smirk an athlete wore after they crushed the other team with barely any effort. Maybe the rivalry thing that the stern looking woman was talking about was not a rivalry at all... maybe it was more like a cat and mouse game. For the girl called Thea.

"You should go back to class Ray." the woman sighed, I was now suspecting she was more than a teacher. Maybe a dean of something or other.  As Ray left she glared at me then walked back into the building with the slam of a door. I suddenly felt guilty, but didn't know what I had done.

The woman crossed her arms and turned to the girl I believed to be Thea. The woman gave the girl a look that mimicked a mother to her troublesome child. "what did you do to make her so angry?" the woman asked.

"I know right?" Thea asked with a quick laugh as if she thought the woman was agreeing with her. She pushed her back from the wall in a smooth move walking towards the woman.

The woman rubbed the bridge of her nose as if soothing a headache.

"I didn't do anything Headmaster Kelly! Well, at least, there's no proof that I did anything." she shrugged,  "Also, I think you have a visitor." She said jerking her head towards me.
