Chapter 22
Vince:
Elizabeth Van Hossen – the girl I first certainly love and the girl who might be the first to break my heart as well. No, that was wrong; she’s actually breaking it right now. Ignoring me completely and spending time with Stewart – that’s how she’s breaking me.
I know it wasn’t her plan and she’s not at fault. And I couldn’t blame her. She’s just acting normally the way she did before our paths crossed. It was I to blame for it was my fault that I fell in love with her.
But whatever it is that’s happening right now, I find no reason to stop loving her…even though I’m losing hope.
I spent the day with Dave. Elaine’s busy organizing the school party on Saturday. Yea, the school party – the one Liz and I have been preparing for. And, as usual, Liz and Justin were always together.
I was sitting on my chair, waiting for this last subject to end and the bell to ring when there’s a knock on the door. Our professor opened the door and the officers of the student body came in – together with Elaine.
Our professor tapped the table to get our attention. “Listen, class; the student body has an announcement.”
The guy, who is the president of the student body, stepped forward. With the way he stands, he looks dignified and intelligent. And when he began to speak, that’s when you’ll know why he became the student body president – very authoritative.
“Good afternoon, students. We are pleased to inform you that some of the details regarding the annual school party this coming Saturday has been altered. The date, time and place are still the same. But as to the attire, all students are expected to be in their formal attire – coat and tie for the gentlemen and evening gowns for the ladies.” said the president.
Majority of the students whined in disbelief – especially the girls who wanted to be in their slutty, seductive attire. One of them actually stood up and complained, “What’s this? Homecoming Dance? Prom Night? A Grand Ball? It was supposed to be a party!”
Another girl followed, “She’s right and besides, we only have two days before Saturday!”
Many other students protested but the student body president remains calm and collected. And then he spoke again, “We have a reason why we did it. So if you could just zip your mouths and open yours ears to listen, everything will be smooth. And you’ll be contributing a lot to save Mother Earth if you shut your mouths up.”
The people went silent. I, too, was also astounded with what he said. He could say those things. Very clever.
And he continued, “Miss Elaine Thompson here, one of the organizers of the party, received an e-mail from a fashion magazine editor saying that they are searching for new models for their new fashion folio to be published soon. Miss Thompson here suggested if they could consider our students to be their models as it will be beneficial to both the school and the publishing company. And of course, to you. the good news is…they agreed. And since, their first fashion folio will be all about looking good on your prom and homecoming dance, we decided that it would make their task easier if you guys are on your formal attire.”
