The truck jumped as police chief Brigham Walters turned onto the dirt road. He had finished talking to the parents of Jackson and Alyssa Moore, Tate Wellington, and his own son, Jason Walters.
None of the teenagers had been home all night and the whole town was worried. In such a small town like River Woods, everyone knows everybody and news travels fast.
Some of the kids from the small high school had been talking. They said they overheard the missing teens talking in the coffee shop about Tate Wellington taking a dare. A dare to stay in the Norton Cabin up in the woods.
People weren't supposed to go up there. Legend said that it was haunted. Brigham Walters knew better. The structure wasn't safe. It was five hundred years old plus. Jason knew they weren't supposed to go up there.
So now Brigham, chief of police, was going up into the woods to find the children that took a stupid dare. It was about an hours drive up there and the sun was just barely rising.
