Chapter 19: Family Lies

Coco

I was out at lunch with Chelly, over these past few months we've grown closer. She's the third momma I have and I was enjoying all the love and knowledge she gives me.

"I'm glad you handled the cover the way you did, the me back then would've tore up that office but you didn't." She said to me. I smiled at the incident from two months ago. I could care less about the cover because I gain something more and that was a new found citizen who and bond with my daughter.

"Do you know when you find out the sex of the baby?" She questioned. "Yea actually we go next month to figure all of that out." I answered. Being three months pregnant had took a toll on me. Between eating more and peeing a lot I honestly wanted to stay in bed, but I knew that wouldn't happen.

"What does August want it to be?" She asked me. I smiled and said "A boy of course, just to even out the playing field." She laughed while shaking her head "Sounds just like him." The waiter brought us our check once he saw we were done eating, we paid then left. I was so glad that she was trying because lord knows I was too sleepy to do it myself. She dropped me off at my house and I gave her a kiss on the cheek before heading inside. Everything was quiet so I assumed August had left since Camry was still at school. I took this chance to straighten up what I needed to so I could take the long awaited nap I deserved. After picking up some of Cam's toys and washing some dishes, I took off my clothes and plopped straight down on bed. I turned to my side while covering myself with my covers. Not less than five seconds the house phone rang and I groaned. I'm not picking that up, whoever that was could wait four hours till I wake up. That's what I told myself, but whoever was on the phone was determined to be answered. I picked it up and let out a load grunt. "What?" I asked impatiently.

"Well that's how you talk to your momma?" My momma said on the phone. "I was trying to sleep, but hello momma dukes." I said hoping she'd say what she had to do I could go to sleep. "I was calling to tell you that in having a little dinner this Saturday with all of the family. So be there or I will continue to wake you out of your sleep." She said. I hugged and said "Yes ma'am you know we'll be there."

"You can bring a plus one if you want to." She said. "Mhm alright momma see you Saturday." I said trying to end the call. "Alright go to sleep then meanie." She said before hanging up. I threw the phone somewhere on the bed before my eyes completely shut.

August

It was Saturday and we were doing  our last preparations before heading over to Coco's mama's house for this dinner. She had something to tell everyone and she just had to have us there.

When we got there Coco's sister Bre opened the door and rolled her eyes at me. "Make me put you in a head lock." I said. She kissed her teeth and said "You do that imma get my big sister on you." Coco laughed at our interaction as they embraced in a hug.  Bre bent down to pick up Camry to give her a kiss and hug. "Where my hug at?" I inquired. She scrunched her face while putting Camry  down. "You sound like one of them ugly guys at my school that always ask for a hug." She said. It was my term to scrunch up my face. "You a pain." I said she shrugged her shoulder and went on her merry way. Not before I put her in a head lock and messed up her hair. "August you play to much!" She yelled as she went upstairs to go pout I laughed as I felt a punch on my arm. I turned around to see Coco with her hand on her hip. "You better stop messing with my little sister punk." Coco said with fake sass. I smirked at her as I snaked my arms around her waist "What chu gone do 'bout it?" She smirked back and bit her lip. She leaned in to whisper in my ear and my eyes rolled to the back of my head as I got a chill down my spine. I looked at her as she continued to smirk "Forreal? Well shii lemme go mess with her some more." I said fake turning up stairs. She giggled as she grabbed my arm pulling me into her for a kiss. I took this chance to squeeze a handful of her ass.

"I know y'all not about to have dessert without having dinner first?" Coco's mom said. She smirked at us and shook her head. Coco pulled from the kiss as she wiped the lipstick from my lips. "No ma'am" I said.

"Well alright now you come on to this dinner table so we can say grace. Y'all was the only one we had to wait for." She said. I took Coco and Camry by the hand as we went to go sit down. Actually the only one that wasn't here was Chelly, but she did say she'd be running late. Once we've said grace everyone put food on their plate and started snacking left to right. I was glad Coco made a cake to bring along with some baked macaroni. With everyone here like Me, Coco, Camry, Bre, Coco Mom, her sisters, her brother, and soon Chelly I knew we'd need a lot to feed people.

While in the mist of conversation the doorbell rang and Coco's mom Geneva went to go answer it. It's wasn't all but two minutes before we heard glass shatter. We all got up and ran to a shaken Geneva and a worried looking Chelly. "What going on Mama you ok?" I asked Geneva. She trembled all the while still looking at Chelly. "Mama what happened? Chelly what did you do?" Coco asked. Once Her aunts and uncle got a good look at Chelly some looked shaken while the others looked angry. "Michelle what are you doing here!" Her uncle yelled.

"Do y'all know each other?" Coco asked. They all nodded their heads "Well how?" She pushed. Her uncle looked around be fore saying

"Coco meet your...."
