(Chapter 8)(momma knows)

(Lindsey's p.o.v)

I was sitting on the bed watching BG pace back and forth, he was on the phone with his mom. She seemed nice. BG was telling her everything. "I got rid a Amber". He said finally. And here's where I was gonna come into conversation. His mother sounded delighted that Amber seemed to be gone from her son's life. "I met a new girl though." BG says. "Aw is she pretty?" His mother asked. "Yeah, very pretty." BG says. "Well B you gotta bring her to come see me, are you still snowed in at the hotel?" She asked. "Yeah, probably won't get out for a couple more days." He says.

BG talked to his mom abit more and hung up. I kissed him. He tackled me. His hands traveled up my back. "BG I'm gonna get pregnant if we keep going like this." I say. He kissed me. "Babies are fun." He says. "BG I'm not ready for all that." I say. "But you can't resist." He says kissing me.

(A few days later)

I was heading home. Lindsey was riding shotgun, and damn it was pretty. I was driving and driving.

I turned the radio up so we could drown out the silence.

Once upon a time not so long ago

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
He's down on his luck...
It's tough, so tough

Gina works the diner all day
Working for her man,
She brings home her pay
For love, for love

She says, "We've gotta hold on to what we've got.
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not.
We've got each other and that's a lot.
For love we'll give it a shot."

[Chorus:]
Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it - I swear
Whoa, livin' on a prayer

Tommy's got his six string in hock
Now he's holding in
What he used to make it talk
So tough, it's tough

Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers,
"Baby, it's okay, someday...

...We've gotta hold on to what we've got.
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not.
We've got each other and that's a lot.
For love we'll give it a shot."

[Chorus]

Livin' on a prayer

We've gotta hold on ready or not
You live for the fight when it's all that you've got.

I pulled into my friend driveway. "Nice house". She says. "Not my house, friend of mine." I say. "Why are we here?" She asked. "Well you said that it was gonna be your birthday this week so I called up a buddy of mine to put a gift on hold for you." I say to her. She smiled. "Really!" She says excited. "Yep". I say. We got outta the truck. We headed into Jason's house. He had a few american bully's left.

I knocked on the door. He opened it, "hey man what's up!!" Jason said. I smiled and we shook hands. Lindsey was hiding behind me. "Amber the bitch in the truck?" Jason asked. "No Amber's gone, I got me a new girl, this is Lindsey". I say. They shook hands. I smiled. "I came to get her a gift." I say. He nodded and let us inside.

"Lindsey, pick your puppy." I say. She squealed. "Aw BG your getting me a puppy!!" She says excited. "Happy early birthday baby." I say. She picked the one that came to her. It was black and white. Gorgeous little thing. "It's a male." She says smiling.

I paid Jason for the dog and its papers. We were driving back home. We had and hour to go. Lindsey was snuggling her new baby. I took a quick pick of the puppy snuggling on her shoulder and sent it to momma with the caption "first grand baby ain't he cute."

I couldn't wait for Lindsey to meet momma and move in with me. And maybe, just maybe she'd agree to marry me.
