Chapter 3

Annabeths POV

"Percy got kidnaped" I reply.

Thalia is silent with shock. Her vision shifts to a tree, and she stares blankly at it.

I wait for her to snap out of it. She blinks and looks strait at me "we have to get him back!' She yells.

I nod and we both get up. We're going to get him back, I know it.

I stand next to Thalias tree, next to the dragon that guards the Golden Fleece that protects camp and the tree. The dragon is asleep, smoke flooding out of his flaring nostrils as he sleeps.

Thalia comes bounding up the hill over to me, arrows over her shoulder, bow in her hand, ready to shoot.

"Ok let's go" she says.

"How are we going to get anywhere? By walking?" I question.

She shakes her head and turns to look down the hill where she just came from. A black horse emerges from the shadows, Blackjack.

He reaches us and makes a noise, as if telling us to climb on. Thalia and I climb onto his back. He nods his head up and gallops down the hill and down the road, using it as a runway. He zooms up, as fast as a car.

I look down and watch camp fade under us as we go higher and in the opposite direction.

Thalia has panic in her eyes. I forgot she's scared of hights!

"We could, uh, we could walk Thalia" I say.

She shakes her head, we both know it'll take us months to get wherever Blackjack is taking us.

I have a feeling Blackjack knows where to go, but I don't know. I lean my head on the Pegasus's neck and close my eyes and sleep.

When I wake up I'm propped up against a tree next to Thalia.

I turn and shake Thalias shoulders, "Thalia!" I whisper-yell.

She doesn't even move a cell.

"Thalia!" I say a little louder as I continue to shake her shoulders.

She wakes up, startled. I sit back, surprised and impressed that I woke her up. Thalia is almost impossible to wake up without water poured on her face.
