So; high school sucks. And I don't mean the whole experience because that would be a big fat lie if I said that it sucks. Truth is, the work sucks; but I'm pretty sure we all know that right? I mean, we have to worry about passing, getting that good grade(s), and being on top of things while still "looking cool". People always ask us what we're gonna do when we graduate from high school... I don't fucking know! Let me find out, let me make a couple hundred mistakes and I'll get back to you! Sheesh. Plus, we still have to have a social life, watch our shows then cry obsessively when the good characters die and get at least eight hours of sleep during the week! It's a tough life we teenagers have. And just to add the cherry on top of the sinking cake; our love life.

Now our parents usually tell us that dating in high school is lame and that there's no point. And you'll nod your head and agree with them because they do make a fair point. Dating in high school is complicated. It adds drama, you feel obligated to text each other all the god damn time and make your new relationship known. There's so much stuff that could wrong in a simple "high school relationship", so yeah; you'll agree with your parents because it can be true.
But what you're really thinking and are really wanting to say is; actually high school relationships is kinda all I'm really wanting in life. Ok, maybe not that extreme but you get what I'm saying. In reality you really do want that high school relationship because social media makes it look cute!

You see all the time on Facebook or Tumblr, those stupid yet heartbreakingly adorable photos of an insanely hot teenage guy, twirling a beautiful girl around on a beach and the photo would have a caption of; When your boyfriend twirls you around on a romantic beach because he loves you that much". And you'll look at that photo and one of two thoughts will run in your head, or maybe both you just don't admit it.
1. Wow that's so cheesy, no real boyfriend would actually do that. Or, 2. Awe that's so cute, why I can't I find a guy like that?!

Now don't even bother trying to lie because you all know it's true. No matter how cheesy or unrealistic those stupid photos are; you want to be the girl in the photo. You can't help it, that's the romantic side to us that we rarely show.
Now I'm not saying that every teenage girl wants a guy in their life during high school. Some girls are perfectly comfortable being on their own and focusing on school and I respect that. You know what, Shout out to those girls! You go girls, you go glen-co-co!! Yes, I referenced to Mean Girls because that show is life.

But you know what does bother me? When my friends would run up to me in the hallway and say, "Olivia! Oh my god, you will not believe the weekends I had with Brad" (or whatever new guy they go out with) "it was so romantic...".
First he did this, and then he did that. And the date will drag on and on to the point where you don't listen anymore because you've heard it all before and you're insanely jealous...most of the time. So you nod along and act as if your listening yet your really not.

Oh, right. That's me, Olivia. Well my full name is Olivia May Lima. Great name, I know, who would've thought I get so lucky. I'm in grade twelve and I live in California. My school is called Winterville High School. It's a pretty big school, has that university look to it. I'm pretty sure it was built in the early 1900's so it's like, pretty old. But it's one of the better schools that's out there...I think.

This my last year of high school and most likely the most painful, in more ways than one. I'm sure we'll find a lot of similarities on this road and it'll probably kill you just about the same amount as it will to me. This is the reality, not a fairy tale.
Sorry.
