"Listen. I don't know what you're problem is. Yes, we are dating. You know I like him and you supported me. What happened?" I ask Makayla. "I don't think it's fair, Jennings!" She cries. "How isn't it fair?!" I practically yell. "I am in love with you! It's not fair that you didn't see that and it's not fair that you are dating him now!" She wails. "Makayla you know that we can never date!" I say trying to talk some sense into her. "WHY NOT?!" She screams. "I'M FUCKING GAY! I AM NOT INTERESTED IN WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER!" I scream back. "I know." She whimpers as she falls to the floor and starts to cry harder. I wanted to know what happened with Makayla at the restaurant yesterday so I invited her to my house. "I'm sorry. There is nothing I can do to change that. You are my best friend. That's all you'll ever be." I say. I feel bad for wording it that way but I needed her to get it through her head that I didn't see her or any girl that way. "I want you to know something. I'm leaving. I'm leaving this town, this state, you. I'm done, Jennings. I can't do this anymore." She says with tears flowing down her face. "Where the hell are you going Makayla?" I ask. "I don't know, but I can't stay here." She says. "Fine. Whatever. Just leave and stop being so childish." I say exasperatedly. "How am I being childish?" She asks. "I can't date you because I'm not into girls and instead of being like 'okay, I understand', you're leaving the state?!" I ask her. "Yes! I'm leaving." She says and walks out the door. "Okay. Fine by me." I shut the door behind her and go to my bedroom. I lay on my bed run my hands through my hair in exhaustion.
