Family Bonding

Damion arrived at the house and walked inside seeing Scott and Melissa sitting in the living room. They saw him and stood up, they were glad to see him it had been hours since he last called. "What took so long?" "I had to pick up someone." Just then Raphael came through the door and everyone froze. "What is this?"
"We need him, Amara needs him."
Scott sighed then walked away. "Scott I know everything, about the supernatural, Amara...everything." Raphael said, it was still a lot to process but his kids were in trouble and he was going to help anyway he could. "Why do we need him?" Melissa asked then looked over at the older man.
"Not to be rude or anything."
"We need him to get Amara back. If the real Amara sees that her family came together to fight to get her back, maybe she will fight to come back to us." "That's a big if, Damion."
Scott said from the other room. "Scott you know how much Amara wanted her real family together again. How she wanted us united we have to be united, and become the family she wanted." They all thought about it and agreed to the plan. "Wait what about Amara's mom." Everyone looked at Raphael for an answer. Damion looked at him with wonder. "Where is my mom?"
Raphael sighed and massaged his temples. "I haven't seen your mother since we found out Melissa was having Scott. But maybe I can log in the the FBI database and find out where she lives." Damion nodded and gave a slight smile in relief that he might actually get to meet his mother. "Okay, let's get to work."
The next day Raphael came over with a sheet of paper, and told everyone to come downstairs. He didn't look happy, actually he looked kind of upset. He laid the paper down gently on the dinner table and sat down. Scott and Damion came down and looked at their father.
"Dad? What's wrong?"
"Did you find her?"
They asked anxiously. Raphael slid the paper towards them and Damion picked up, then started reading. "What the heck is this? This is a death certificate for Artemis Rugaru. My mother isn't dead!" He started ripping up the paper and threw it down, the little ripped up pieces of paper fall to the ground like snowflakes.
Damion ran back upstairs slamming the door. "I'm sorry, Scott."
"It's okay dad. You did your part...but now you have to do something else." Raphael looked up at him wondering what else he wanted him the screw up. "Go talk to your son." Hearing those words come out Scott's mouth sounded foreign. But he got up and started walking upstairs, he got to Damion's door and knocked on it. No answer. "Damion? You don't have to open the door, but...I'm sorry about your mother. She was...a wonderful woman. When she found out she was having you it was the best thing that happened to her. But I saw it as a mistake. Melissa and I were trying to have kids and I just got a kid by someone else, but when I left Artemis I felt like I was missing apart of me and I went back. When I saw you...man, you were so beautiful and then a year later Artemis found out she was having another kid...Amara; and at that same time Melissa was already pregnant with Scott. Three kids I had to take care of. I freaked out and I left Artemis to take care of Melissa and Scott. Artemis never knew I was married, so don't think she was some woman that slept with married men."
Damion opened the door quickly and looked at him sternly. "I would have never thought that of my mother." Raphael nodded and sighed. "What I think I'm trying to say is...I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not being there for you."
"It's fine, my mother was never there for me either, so you are in pretty good company." He said before walking back to his bed sitting at the edge of it. Raphael walked in and sat beside him.
"What are you talking about?"
"My mom gave me up when I was a baby and disappeared. Never to be heard of again. But sometimes I still feel like she's with me. I feel like I can sometimes feel what she's feeling. That's why I said she isn't dead, I would feel her leave me." Damion said looking at his father with tear filled eyes. Raphael wrapped his arm around him and they sat there in silence.
