The Book Thief is a novel by Markus Zusak and even has a cinematic version as well. To start with, the novel has its settings based on the period of World War II, commonly known as the time of the Nazis and their discrimination and oppression towards the Jewish people. The setting has a major impact over the course of the story and is crucial to comprehend certain parts. As for a little taste of this novel, the book thief of the title is a girl named Liesel Meminger and obviously, the very main character and the central focus of this book as the story flows around her. She is an innocent girl who "steals" books in her deep passion in which she is "attracted" to books and has a great desire for books. This companion book consists a total of 6 chapters including this current one. For those who are confused in this book, like I did before, this book will probably help and will not contain any possible spoils, not much at least.

*****I'd like to give credits to my classmate Sarah, who told me that the narrator of the story was the Grim Reaper(Death) itself, the collector of souls. It might help few people as you look back again in the book, "The Book Thief" making the book could be more vivid and clear to you, helping it make more sense. For proof, here are some quotes to prove this fact: "Your soul will be in my arms.. I will carry you gently away."(pg.4) "I knelt down and extracted his soul, holding it limply in my swollen arms."(pg.21; Werner's Death), etc. I bet even with those evidences, it is very clear...*****
