Chapter 3
*The Day After Mia Met Dylan*
~Mia's POV~
"MIA! GET UP ALREADY!"
My eyes fluttered open the next morning to reveal the blinding sunlight. I glanced at the clock and mentally laughed; I had slept until 2:30... In the afternoon.
I rolled out of bed and stripped off last night's wrinkled get-up. After digging around a little bit, I found my running shirt, shorts, socks, and shoes. Slipping them all on in no time, I grabbed my iPod and jogged out to the kitchen where my mom was sitting on our old computer.
"Fun night last night?" She winked. She had been a hardcore party teen too, so she tolerated my underage drinking as long as I kept control of the situation.
"Shuddup," I countered grabbing a piece of toast and executed a full out sprint to the door, slamming it behind me. I pulled out my iPod and earbuds before I started running, putting on my playlist that consisted of upbeat One Direction songs. I grinned as What Makes You Beautiful blared into my ears; it's a classic. I reached the sidewalk and my thoughts disappeared as I let the music and fresh air fill my brain, totally zoning out to the world.
"Wooo! Go Mia! Keep running! You got this!"
Um, what? That wasn't a part of any One Direction song... I took out my earbuds and glanced to my left, and laughed as I saw Dylan cheering me on as he kept my pace in his taxi. I laughed even harder as I saw the line of cars forming behind him. I ran to the cab and slipped in the front seat, not really caring that I was all sweaty, honestly I can't look much worse now than I did when I was drunk in his taxi last night.
"How'd you find me all the way out here?" I asked, genuinely wanting an answer. I run pretty far distances, and I was at the farthest point in my run away from my house, about 7 miles away, preparing to run the next 7 miles home.
"Oh, ya know. All I do is drive around all day waiting for someone to need me, I was bound to see you running at one point, right?" He wondered aloud. I found myself feeling suspicious; we weren't really near the hopping city of LA, why was he driving his cab out here? But this was Dylan, the boy who had called me beautiful and a princess. So I just nodded as if I was satisfied with his answer.
"You thirsty?" Dylan asked.
"Um, no, I go 7 miles without needing liquids." I said sarcastically.
"Well, Mrs. Sarcasm, then I won't take you for a drink." He retorted. I glanced at my iPod to see the time.
"A drink, at 3:30?" I asked suspiciously. Was he trying to get me drunk or what? But Dylan just laughed his adorable laugh.
"Not that kind of drink. You know, some of us actually obey the law." He teased, knowing full well that I was flat out smashed last night. I giggled at how right he was.
"So, where are we going?" I asked curiously, not even sure what kind of drinking we were stopping for. My questions were answered when Dylan quickly pulled into a spot in front of Starbucks.
"White girl Heaven!" He said, adoration apparent in his voice. I laughed and followed him as he ran in to the coffee shop like a little kid running in to a candy store. Once we reached the front of the line, we both ordered coffee frappacinos (mine was lite with no whip... His had extra whip). We waited for our drinks then stepped outside and walked on the sidewalk. His hand gradually found mine, and he swung them back and forth.
"So, Mia, would it be safe to call this a first date? I know I didn't really ask you or anything, I just kinda picked you up, you can say no, I mean I'd rather you say yes, but I mean that's obvious because I'm the one asking..." Dylan rambled nervously. I giggled at how cute he was.
