Miranda's pov
We get back home after going to a movie and I'm still worried about what to do if Matt comes back. "Jason, I'm scared. What if Matt comes again?" "Nothin' will happen to you. He won't get you. I meant every word last night." He says, holding my hand which rested on the middle console. "Thanks. Date night was great by the way." He smiles. "Night's still young baby." I smile as he leans across the seat and kisses me passionately. The hand was holding mine moves to my side. Then my phone buzzes. I sigh annoyed. I pick it up. A text from an unknown number.
N: Get him off you.
My hands are shaking now and I drop my phone. "Jason, someone is watching us." I gasp, glancing out the window. He looks out the window of the drivers side. "Stay in the car and lock the doors." He says, pulling out the pistol he had at the bar. I grab his arm, worried. "Jason," He stops and we lock eyes. I kiss him again. "Be careful." "I will."
Jason's pov
I close the door and hear the locks click. She'll be fine. I know it's Matt. He probably followed us. I hear footsteps but it's too dark to see and then it starts raining. Luckily my hat keeps the rain out of my face. "You're not the only one who's skilled in weaponry." I spin around where I heard the voice. "The only difference...." He then runs at me and slams me against my truck. "I know how to get away with murder." "Oh yeah?" "Yeah." "Well so do I." I throw his arm off my shoulder. "I thought I said to get the hell out of Nashville!" "Not without my fiancé." "You'll never get her." I glare hard at him and we're at a standoff. Who's gonna shoot first? He shoots the gun but it hits my window instead then he throws me to the ground, pointing the gun at me. "Don't move." He growls at me. I don't want to get shot. "You make one move toward her, I'll kill you!" I gripe back.
Miranda's pov
I'm so scared. "Get out of the car now or the cowboy gets it!" Matt yells. I'm shaking. "Don't do it! Stay in the truck!" Jason shouts on the ground. "I can't! He'll shoot you!" I cry, grabbing the door handle. I run around the back to where Jason is on the ground, the gun pointed at him. Jason's teeth grit in anger. "You're comin' with me." Matt says. Jason grabs my arm. "No she's not." I try to stand up but he won't let me. "You can't go with him." He says. "I have to. I can't let you get hurt." I say, shakily, tears in my eyes. He sits up. Both hands clamped around my arms now, he refuses to let go. "Baby, losing you would hurt way more than a bullet." He's right. It'd be the same for me. That's how much I love him. "I have an idea." I whisper. His eyes go wide. "If it involves you givin' yourself up, he might as well just shoot me now." My eyes fill with tears. "Don't say that." I say, standing up. "What if I gave you all my money instead? Then will you leave me alone?" He raises an eyebrow. "All of it?" "Every cent." "No babe you worked your ass off for that money!" Jason gasps. I turn back around. "I don't need money to be rich Jason. All I need is love." His eyes go wide. "Deal." Matt says. "And you promise you'll never come after me again?" I ask. He nods. "You have my word." He says, lowering the gun. I open the truck door and get my checkbook out. "All my money is at Nashville Central bank. I'll write you a check in your name to all my savings. And after that I never wanna see your selfish ass again." I say, fighting back the tears. "Yeah. We're finally getting somewhere." He says, smirking. I glance at Jason. He shakes his head, mouthing no. I mouth back I have to. He shakily stands up. "Don't you move, bartender, I told you this wasn't over. "And I told you my name's not bartender." He gripes, furious. I write the check and hand it to him. "Glad to do business with you." He says with an evil snarl. He leaves whistling the tune to a Charlie Daniels song. "You know he basically just robbed us at gunpoint." Jason says. "I don't care. We're both alive. That's all that matters." I gasp, running into his arms and crying. "I'd take being broke and in your arms then anything else any day." I whimper. He holds me tight and kisses my head. "Me too baby. Now come on let's get you out of the rain." We go to his apartment. I sold mine and moved in with him.
*later that night*
I've been thinking about him singing for a while now. "Hey Jason, you awake?" I ask. His eyes are closed but he nods. "I've been thinking. I could run the bar and you could play at the more high end bars and get recognized." He opens his eyes, staring at his hands. "You have to have a special license to bartend." He says, sighing. "Well what do I have to do? I'll do it." "It's a lot of work. You gotta read all the manuals and stuff. It's gonna be okay. Someday, I'll work on becoming a singer but not right now. We don't have the money anymore for us to do that." Tears fill my eyes. "I wish I could do something Jason." "It's all good baby. You're all that I need to be happy." He says, hugging me. "Ditto." I say, smiling. He kisses my head and we go to sleep with heavy hearts.
