It's a typically hot mid-June day. However, today isn't just any normal day- today is the day that Sherman and I find out whether I'm having a boy or a girl! Currently, Sherman and I are driving to the doctors office. "Dr. Kasal is a nice lady. She's so sweet," Sherman says. I nod and respond "I know. She takes pride in her work, and her daughter is a big fan of The Teenagers, too!" Sherman laughs and says "Heck yeah! I'm just so damn excited about finding out the gender of our child, Alyssa." "So am I, my dear," I respond, nodding. Sherman and I are probably the two most excited people on Earth right now.

Currently, Sherman and I are in the waiting room at the doctors office. Sherman is reading some sports magazine, and I am reading a fashion magazine. The lady sitting next to me says "Hey, miss, you're in that fashion magazine!" "I am? What page am I on?" I ask. The lady smiles and says "Here, let me show you." Sweetly, I hand the lady the magazine and watch in amazement as she flips through the pages. "See? There you are! You looked good in that floral-print maternity shirt and maternity pants! You're a fashionable lady," the lady says to me. Grinning, I respond, "Thanks! My name is Alyssa Houlton, by the way. Nice to meet you." With a surprised look on her face, the lady says "Holy crap! You're the Alyssa Houlton who's in the singing group The Teenagers! I'm Karissa Bellevue. I am quite the fan." I shake Karissa's hand. "It's always a pleasure meeting a fan!" I cheerily respond. Then, a nurse says "Miss Houlton, the doctor is ready to see you now!" Karissa says "Nice meeting you" as Sherman and I head back to a room.

I'm laying on the bed in the exam room, and Sherman is sitting in a chair. Dr. Kasal is in the room, and she's checking on the baby. She asks me "How's the singing life been, Alyssa?" "It's been good. Kenny left the group a few months ago, but we still keep in touch with him. Last month, we recorded the songs "A Little Wiser Now" and "Can You Tell Me" with a guy named Freddie Houston. He's not a part of the group, though- we just recorded those two songs with him and that was it," I reply. Dr. Kasal looks at me, smiles, and says, "Oh, okay! Now, I'd like you to lift your shirt up so I can do the ultrasound." Slowly, I lift my shirt up to just above my stomach. Then, Dr. Kasal places the gel on the ultrasound wand, and she places the ultrasound wand onto my stomach. I shiver a bit when I feel the cold gel on my stomach. "It's cold, isn't it?" Dr. Kasal asks as she rubs the wand around my stomach. Slowly, I nod my head. Sherman grins and asks "So, Dr. Kasal, have you found out what the gender of the baby is?" "Hold on. A-ha! Here's the baby!" My eyes widen, and so does my grin. I turn my head and look at the screen. With a smile on her face, Dr. Kasal says, "Congratulations, you two! You two will be the proud parents of a daughter!"

I smile and look over at Sherman. Sherman wipes a tear away and says "I'm so damn happy. Our daughter will be so beautiful, Alyssa." "I know, baby. She's gonna be the most beautiful girl in the world," I say. Dr. Kasal hands me some paper, and I wipe the remnants of the gel off of my stomach before putting my shirt back down. Happily, I sit up and cheerily say "Hey, Sherman! We gotta tell the others the news! I can't wait to hear their reactions!" With a grin on his face, Sherman says "So am I, my angel. So am I." Dr. Kasal smiles her lovely smile and says "I wish you two many congratulations. Hey, I'll tell my daughter about your new record on the End label!" "Alright! We'll see you later, Dr. Kasal!" I say as Sherman and I leave the room, smiling. I'm so happy. Sherman and I are probably the two happiest people in the world, and that makes me even more happy.
