Still Way Back

Visiting Friends

(Billy's point of view)

Thank goodness I have a break from medical school this week! Currently, I'm driving to the Gee Records building to visit the Teenagers and see what they're up to. The only people who know I'm visiting are Herman, Jimmy, Joe, and Kenny. This'll come as a complete surprise to Alyssa and Sherman. I hope Alyssa is still as beautiful as she was the last time I saw her. As I drive, I start to see the Gee Records building in the distance. "Alright, alright," I say to myself. The city hasn't changed a bit since I was last here, it seems. My grin widens as I get ever so closer to the Gee Records building. I can't wait to see everyone again!

I walk into the building and see Herman, Jimmy, Joe, and Kenny. "Hey guys! It's me!" I exclaim. Herman turns around and says "Hey, Billy! How have you been?" Happily, I walk over to where Herman is and reply "I've been good! Hey, where are Alyssa and Sherman?" "They're at the doctor's office. Alyssa hasn't been feeling well these past few mornings, so she figured that she should see a doctor," Jimmy replies. I say, "Well, considering how many times Alyssa and Sherman probably get it on with each other, she's probably preg-" Joe looks at me and says "Hush, Billy! You can't just say that! Now, let's get to the studio and wait for Sherman and Alyssa." "Sorry," I say as I roll my eyes and put my hands in my coat pockets. Jimmy asks "So, Billy, how's medical school been?" Happily, I respond "It's been great! Hey, during some spare time I had a few months ago, I managed to record two songs for the Diamond Records label!" Kenny says, "Interesting! What are the names of the songs you recorded?" "One song is called "She Didn't Invite Me," and the other is called "Delores Angel." I almost called "Delores Angel" "Alyssa Angel," but I figured Alyssa wouldn't like it," I reply. I'm so excited to see Alyssa and Sherman again.

Joe, Herman, Kenny, Jimmy, and I all stand outside of the recording studio, patiently awaiting the arrival of Alyssa and Sherman. Joe grins and says "Hey, Billy, Alyssa is officially part of the Teenagers now! She signed a deal with End Records yesterday, and she's now an official member of the Teenagers." Hell yeah! "Alright! I'm so glad for her!" "She'll probably sing backup unless we have a song for her to sing lead on, and she's fine with that," Jimmy says. I smile, and I feel happy for Alyssa. She's a good singer, and she deserves to be a part of the Teenagers, I think. "Hey, if you guys wanna record "Delores Angel" and call it "Alyssa Angel," you can do that," I say. Before any of the four Teenagers who are here can respond, Alyssa and Sherman walk through the door. "Hey, every- oh my god, Billy! I'm so glad to see you here!" Alyssa exclaims as she hugs me. I hug Alyssa and respond "I'm glad to see you again. You're still as beautiful as ever. Sherman, you still look as cool as usual." Sherman nods and says "Thanks, Billy." Alyssa says, "Sorry it took Sherman and I a while to get here! Morning sickness made me its bitch this morning, and then we had to go to the doctor." Herman raises an eyebrow and asks "Wait, did you just say you had morning sickness?" "Yes, I did- I'm expecting!" Alyssa cheerily replies. I fuckin' knew it! The other members of the Teenagers are all clapping and being super-excited. Joe then says "Hate to bring a damper on the "Alyssa's expecting" festivities, but we need to get into the studio and record!" Holy shit, I'm excited about hearing my friends record a new song!

I'm currently in the sound booth with George Goldner, and he's making final preparations before the Teenagers start to record their new song, "Crying." I look over at Alyssa, who is smiling one hell of a big smile. I'm so happy for Alyssa and Sherman. Then, George says, "Alright, here it goes! "Crying," take one!" You can do it, Joe. You'll do good singing lead on this song.

"Perfect take, you guys! Alyssa, your backing vocals were beautiful!" George exclaims. Joe grins and laughs. "Don't we have to record again tomorrow?" Joe asks. George nods and responds "Yes. I believe Alyssa has some ideas as to what to record." Alyssa grins and says "I wanna record "Begin the Beguine" again! We should do that song!" Herman says "Yeah, we did that when Frankie was in the group, but we never released it. Why don't we record it again, and have Alyssa sing Frankie's parts of the song?" The other Teenagers nod their heads in approval. "Good idea! Hey, let's go to lunch, you guys! Lunch is on me!" I say. Alyssa gives me a thumbs-up and Sherman says, "Yeah! Let's go, y'all!" I'm so glad I get to be with my friends again. Time to reminisce on old memories and find out what's been happening in their lives.
