Just Leave

He opens up the door revealing a girl from my high school. It's Ashley Axe, the tall blonde with lowlights. She is the face of popularity, well, WAS the face of popularity. That is before Them and before she got pregnant.

Reece invites her in hurriedly like she will die if she's out there another second.

I stay next to the bag, just incase, but Reece has other plans.

"Oh my God, Ashley! Are you okay?" he whispers.

"Yeah, yeah... I'm good. But you! You're limping!" she replies while gesturing to his hip.

"I know, I am fine. Don't worry about me."

She lifts up his shirt to look at his wound. The skin has almost completely scabbed over, but it is swollen and irritated since he never removed the bullet.

Reece sucks in deeply as she softly runs her thumb over it.

"I told you that you were still hurt!" I mutter.

I suppose Ashley didn't even see me there because she turned to face me, "Oh Reece, so this is your twin! What was her name? Uhh... Clint right?"

Seriously, Clint isn't even a girls name!

"That's Quinn." My brother laughs knowing that "Clint" really annoyed me.

"Oh, right! Sorry, pregnancy brain am I right!" she laughed.

"Oh my God that's right I'm so stupid!" Reece starts, "sit down, uhh do you want some water or anything?"

I roll my eyes at him.

"Water would be nice, but Reece! I missed you!" she flirts while standing up from her seat.

"Ashley, slow down! I thought you two were dead, I thought my life was over! Now sit down and drink some God damned water!" he says lovingly while pushing her back to sit.

I clear my throat to remind them that I am still on the room.

"Quinn, you know who Ashley is right?" Reece sighs.

"Who doesn't?" I snarl.

She smiled at me, I can tell that made her happy. I guess she doesn't know what sarcasm is.

"Well... She is kinda my girlfriend..." He whispers. "And she is kinda pregnant with my daughter..."

My face went blank and Reece took the backpack from next to me to get Ashley a water.

"Wha-..." I spit out, "since when? I thought you were dating Katy Sparks..."

"That was just a cover up, if anyone knew we were dating Ashley's parents would kill me... Literally." he laughs.

"So Katy just went along with it?" I ask.

"Yeah, she is my bestie so she just had to make it look real at school." Ashley answers.

Reece smirks at me, the look in his eyes tells me that this is what he ment when he said being popular is not all it's cracked up to be.

"So, are you gonna stay here with us all night or are you leaving?" I hint.

Reece sighs, "Please stay Ash, I would never forgive myself if something happend to you."

"Okay, I will stay with you guys! This will be so fun, like a sleep over with my boyfriend and my new friend!" She says sound very excited.

"Yeah... Great..." I say very sarcastically, this one she picked up on.

Ashley glared over at me and a hazed black flash comes to her eyes... What the hell...

I need to get to the bag, but Reece has it.

"I'll be right back." I state walking to find a room where I can lock the door to come up with a plan.

Just down the hall is a bathroom. There is always a lock on the bathroom door, perfect.

If she is one of Them, I can't just shoot her, she won't die. But if I do shoot her it could buy me some time to think. Reece would never even let me pull a gun on her though, I have to find another angle.

Wait, what am I even doing in here! I can't leave her alone with him!

I walk out and in the entry room where I left them is Ashley on Reece's lap and he is giving her a back massage.

The backpack is unattended on the floor by the couch where they are sitting. I hope they are too involved with each other to notice me as I grab the bag and walk over to the kitchen.

In the kitchen I search the draws for a knife, like a big buchar's knife. Of course who ever these people were, they didn't have big knives. I guess a ceramic steak knife will have to do, God I hope this works.

I lay on the floor of the kitchen with just the tip of the gun peaking around the corner. I have to aim this so perfectly so I don't shoot Reece, and none of them better move. I'm just happy that she is on him instead of the other way around, that would make things so much more risky.

I aim for her head because this will probably just stun her like it did to my dad.

Aim. Aim. And I pull the trigger. A big bang and and the gun recoils. I stand up so fast and rush over to her where she lays in shock on Reece's lap. I pull out the knife and Reece pushes me away to the floor.

"Reece, what are you doing! She's one of Them!" I scream.

"Shut up! No she is not!" He shouts with his eyes starting to water.

"Trust me on this, just trust me!"

He looks at me as Ashley begins to flinch on his lap. "Oh what the f-!" He whisper-shout while push in her to the floor.

"I told you, trust me." I say as I leap over to her and slay her with the knife, strait into her neck.

"That won't kill her Quinn, you have to destroy her." He says while taking a step back.

I take a step towards her again, but stop, "I can't do it, I don't think I can do it..."

"Just do it... She is already dead anyways. Ashley is not there anymore, it's just one of Them."

"I know... But I can't. I know she's not alive, but I only shot her because I knew she wouldn't die."

"Quinn, listen to me! It is not Ashley!"

"Then you do it!" I shout, but it's too late. She stands off the ground and pulls the knife out of her neck.

"I was going to wait 'till you two were sleeping," She shreeks, "but I guess I can kill you now!" and she threw the knife across the room at Reece, he ducks down enough that the knife only scrapes his ear.

I begin to back into the kitchen where I stupidly left the gun and the backpack while She is still focused on killing Reece. I grab the gun and shoot at her again, but I miss. Quickly I grab my backpack and rush towards the door, I grab Reece by the wrist and pull him with me. She begins to follow, but the door slams on her hand, allowing us a few more seconds to get out of the building.

We run outside, me pulling Reece to go faster as he clenched his hip with his other hand.

"Please don't slow down!" I plead, "Run through the pain, just leave it all behind... Just run!"

He nods his head at me panting for breath and releases himself from my grip.

He begins to run in another direction, "follow me!" he says, "They will find us soon and I'm sure Ash is on our trail."
