Many unfortunate people don't get to ask this question but the ones who do don't seem to have many answers. You can't just go back to the way you were living life after you've had cancer . Being that close to death changes you. When Paul thought he was going to live he asked himself this question stating
"No one asked about my plans, which was a relief, since I had none. While I could now walk without a cane, a paralytic uncertainty loomed: Who would I be, going forward, and for how long? Invalid, scientist, teacher? Bioethicist? Neurosurgeon once again...? Stay-at-home dad? Writer? Who could, or should, I be?."
No one ever really talks about what people do after having cancer or even set up a plan as what you should do . How do you deal with the night terrors or the remission fears ? Do they just tell you to deal with it because ,hey you lived so your lucky enough right ? Yes you're lucky but not fortunate .
Theirs no job center for people who have been crippled from the effects cancer no place you can visit to talk about it with others. You just deal with it alone and and continue to believe that you were "lucky "
