It was only 10am when Nicks phone rang "Nick mate, we need to talk, it's about Carla and the hotel."
Nick wanted to argue that Robert wasn't his mate and that they never would be mates but he knew that if it was about Carla then it might be in his best interests to keep his comments to himself.
"I'll see you at the Bistro, is 5:30 okay?"
"Yeah, I'll see you there."

It was only a few days since Carla was shot and Nick had took the week off of work as well as sorting it with Aidan so that Carla also had a week off.

Carla turned in bed as she began to open her eyes "Hey" she said in her morning voice, which Nick found incredibly cute, "Hey babe" he replied "Do you want anything?"  Carla moved closer to him "No I'm fine thanks, I'd quite like a hug though."

They laid in bed for another half an hour, hardly talking, Carla had her head resting on her fiancés chest, facing him and they were just holding each other in a comfortable silence wishing that they could stay like that for the rest of their lives.

They decided that they would get dressed and go for a walk somewhere and Nick suggested the canal, the place where they had got back together after what happened with Robert, Carla agreed that it would be nice.

They had walked quite a distance before sitting on a bench where they talked about the future, about their wedding, the baby, their little family once Carla had given birth to their child.

All Carla had ever wanted was to have a family and to actually feel like she belonged, every birthday since she was 7 she had wished for a happy life, maybe she would finally get her wish.
She deserved a happy ending... She was dragged up by a waste of skin and bones that was her mother, an alcoholic that showed no interest whatsoever in either of her children and Carla then found out that Johnny was her dad, if he had brought her up then her life could be totally different.
Carla has been through so much but she still manages to act like she is unbreakable and that really is an achievement, no matter how weak she felt she didn't often show it.
She was married to her own relative, had a relationship with another, held hostage by Tony Gordon, raped by Frank Foster when she told him that she didn't want to marry him and cheated on by Peter Barlow but now she finally had a man that was good for her.
