"Alright I'm gonna go to the store Pheebs, do you need anything?" Danielle asked grabbing her keys from the granite counter-top. She had her hair tied up and was wearing a plain white tee and a pair of jeans, which if anyone knows her is a SUPER casual outfit.

"Um no I'm okay." I responded, putting a tea bag in a mug. I plopped onto the black leather couch and turned on Netflix. I hadn't been here long enough to have any of my favorites on her list, so I searched through the feed. I was just about to play a show I found until I heard a creaking sound. I jolted up from the couch and looked around.

"Danielle? Are you back from the store?" Of course it's not Danielle. You sound like a stupid girl from a horror movie. I tip toed around the apartment when another noise made my heart stop. Suddenly I became light headed, I kneeled in the middle of the hallway to catch my breath. Get it together Phoebe. You're just paranoid. I couldn't do it though, the silence was killing me. I needed to get out of here. I quickly grabbed my phone and headphones and slipped on my tennis shoes then locked the door behind me.

Before I came out here, to California, whenever I would feel overwhelmed or stressed I would go run. Whether it be a track, a trail in the woods, or a sidewalk in a neighborhood; just the peace of being completely away from the rest of the world and all it's issues was enough to calm me down. I shuffled my playlist, hoping the blaring music would block out the nightmares in my head, and I ran. My pace quickened as my mind flashed back to being chased. Suddenly I was right back there. Sweating from my temples, my breath uneven, my heart beating out of my chest. I ran faster and faster trying to get away, not daring to look back. I was knocked off balance by the sudden intrusion of a tall, solid figure. I rubbed my now throbbing head as I was picked up off the ground by the person who caused me to fall.

"Are you okay?" A familiar voice asked.

"Yeah I'm fi- Oh, it's you." My face was met by those familiar brown eyes and kind smile.

"Well hello to you too." Jack chuckled. I was about continue my run when he stopped me again. "Well since you're here," he started, rubbing the back of his neck, "would you maybe wanna go grab some coffee or something." I was shocked by his proposal but before my mind could catch up with my mouth I replied, "Um no but thanks," then ran away before he could respond. I felt bad, but he was a stranger to me and I don't have the greatest history with strangers.
