I went home as usual, and I found I was much more tired than usual, so I went to lay down as soon as I got home, and fell asleep right away. I only woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. I was surprised I had slept for so long. It was 6:30am and I fell asleep at around 4:00pm.
"Morning honey." My mom yelled at me from down the hall. I could smell the sweet aroma of waffles and bacon from the kitchen. My mom was always like this on the week of my birthday. She makes me a special breakfast each day of the week of all my favorite breakfast dishes. I ate and got my stuff to go out of the door, and standing at the corner of my street was Brad. I walked up to him.
"What are you doing here," I asked curiously.
"Keeping my promise," he responded happily. At least he was keeping it.
He walked me to school and followed and talked to me for the first half of the day. When it was time for lunch, I was expecting him to ditch me and hang out with his jock like friends because I didn't fit in with them. I put my stuff away in my locker, then Brad run up from behind me and put his arm around my shoulder.
"Hey, you weren't trying to lose me were you," he asked goofily.
"Well... I expected you to ditch me because I don't really fit in with your crowd," I said honestly. He stopped walking and looked at me.
"Why do you have to downgrade yourself? You're a lot cooler than a lot of the people in 'my crowd' actually. And I told you I would keep my promise. I'm going to stick to you like a bee to honey," he said. Then he smiled and ushered me to keep walking toward the lunchroom. As we walked, many of his friends came up and joined us walking in the hallway. I felt very awkward the whole time. I also got a lot of very strange looks from his friends, and I tried to look the other way whenever someone looked at me. Everyone took a seat, and I ended up taking a seat next to Brad.
"Who's this," one of Brad's friends asked him.
"Well, if you must know, we're old friends. You could say were almost related we know each other so well," Brad winked at me when he said that. I hid a smile when he did.
"Oh cool, so I guess you're going to be sitting here more often then," The same guy asked me.
"Uh... Ya I guess so," and I smiled at him.
When I was about to walk home, Brad ran up to me again.
"Don't you have to catch a bus or something? You don't need to walk me home," I told him.
"It's no problem, besides I have to talk to you. So your birthday is tomorrow, you should stay at my house tomorrow night because it's going to be tough. Your powers are going to be coming in and I don't know what will happen, so I'm going to help you," he told me.
"Ya that makes sense. I'll tell my parents I won't be home that night, I guess I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yes you will, bye," then Brad waved and ran off.
The next day came. This was the big day. My 17 birthday, and sometime today I'm going to become a witch. I looked myself up and down in the mirror, wondering what was going to change by tomorrow.
"Hey mom, I'm not going to be home tonight, I know someone who can help me tonight, besides I don't want to possibly destroy the house," I said. My mom was wary. Lucky for me she was trusting enough to let me go.
"Are you one hundred percent sure about this," she asked. "If you are then okay with it then I will be too, just be safe okay? See you in a day or two," My mom said. I nodded
"Thanks mom," and I ran out of the door to school.
