Chapter 3

When we arrived at the precinct the officers made sure we made it in safely then went back to their work.

I followed Luke to a room with 3 other detectives working on the case. As soon as we walked in the room went dead silent.

I looked over at Luke confused.

"What's going on?" Luke asked the detectives.

They all looked at me and back to Luke.

"It's fine she is here to help, she can handle anything you need to say."

The detectives hesitated a fee more seconds before the only other female in the room stepped forward.

"Hi Emma, I'm Detective Fields but you can call me Alison."

"Hi Alison." I said smiling nervously. "Why did everyone stop talking when we walked in?"

"We got news about Braxton and Karlie."

"And..?"

"Braxton is safe, officers will be with him and his family until we find Gabriel."

"Ok good" I said a little less worried. "What about Karlie?"

Alison's eyes looked over to Luke for a split second before she began talking.

"When officers arrived at her home, there was no answer. When they were able to get into the house they found her parents and older brother tied up in the basement... Karlie was missing."

"She wasn't there?" I stated falling to my knee's.

"We'll find her" Luke said Kneeling beside me.

"I'm so sorry." Alison said.

"Is her family ok?" I asked.

"They were taken to the hospital and treated for dehydration, her father had a few bruises. Other than that they are ok, just very worried."

"I don't understand how this is possible, it was a closed adoption. The only thing I knew about them was their names and the pictures I got once a year. I didn't even know the first names of the couple who adopted them, I've never see an address or anything. The hospital dealt with all that."

"We have some detectives at the hospital interviewing everyone that works there or has worked there in the last 5 years." Luke said. " We will find her, are you sure you want to be here?"

"I, I can't just sit back and do nothing."

"Why don't you tell the detectives everything you know about Gabriel, then We will take you home. There's really nothing you can do right now anyway." Luke said

"Ok" I agreed, I told the detectives everything I knew about Gabriel, how he looked, how he talked, the things he said, and things I heard about him from my kidnappers talking.

"Thank you." Detective Fields said. "That will be helpful." Giving me a half smile.

"Let's go home" Luke said.

The ride home was silent, neither of us knowing what to say.

When we arrived home there were already two patrol cars outside. We walked in and went straight to the bedroom. I laid in Luke's arms sobbing until I fell asleep.
