Elora
Maria and my mom spend the rest of the day helping me pack and get ready for my time in the selection. I am hardly able to sleep at all that night in anticipation of what is to come.
By the time I wake up the next morning it's already 7:30. Thank goodness everything is already packed so I don't have to scramble to get everything ready in the half hour window that I have. I get out of bed and quickly slip into a black off the shoulders type t-shirt with lace sleeves. Then I wedge myself into a dark pair of jeans and attack my hair with a brush. By the time Maria comes in to tell me that the car has arrived, I'm just finishing up my makeup.
Maria helps me carry everything downstairs and load it into the back of the car. Mom is waiting for me outside and gives me a huge hug when I come out. Papa isn't there to see me off, but I promise mom that I will write them both many letters while I'm away. The driver, an older looking man who introduces himself as Leo gives me a smile and opens the door for me before getting inside the car himself. I wave to mom and Maria through the window as we drive away from the estate.
The palace is only a half hour drive from my home so by the time Leo helps me out of the car, it's only half past eight. One of the guards who seemed to have been waiting for me comes up to the car and takes my bags, lifting them easily even though I know that they're not light.
"Hello, you must be miss Elora." He smiles charmingly and his ice cold blue eyes seem to see right through me as I select my next words.
I stand up a little straighter and reprimand myself in my head for doing so. I'm not supposed to be here to be attracted to the guards right now, I'm supposed to be helping Andrius pick a wife. "That would be me." I nod a little and start to follow him when he begins walking.
"Well it's nice to meet you miss Elora." And there's that charming smile of his again, "My name's Jackson, but you...you can call me Jack." I swear to god that guy just winked at me. I follow Jackson to the same room I always stay in whenever I come here and he sets my bags on the bed. "I'll be sure to see you around miss Elora." he smirks and walks off, taking those eyes and that mop of blonde hair with him.
Left alone once Jackson leaves, I sit on my bed and wait for Andrius to at least come and visit me. I understand how busy he is, especially now, but he is still my best friend and he knows I'm here.
I wait for a long time, close to two hours before there's a knock at my door. I had been laying down on my bed reading Anne Of Green Gables, which was a personal favourite of mine and almost jumped out of my skin when I heard it. I quickly jumped out of the bed, "One second!" and I glanced in the tall, floor length mirror to make sure I looked okay before I open the door.
I almost fling my arms around the figure standing there when the door opens, "Andr-" but then I stop and take a step back, "wait, you're not Andrius."
[] Ugh it looks like this is another short one, sorry again. I promise the next one will be nice and long to make up for it -Em []
