Elora

The man standing there when I opened the door was clearly not Andrius. Instead of the blue eyed boy with the blonde hair and goofy smile that I was expecting, I was face to face with a tall man with short black hair and gorgeous green eyes. I was momentarily stunned before stepping back and just blinking at him, "Uh...sorry about that. Can I help you with something?" My voice sounds all squeaky when I speak which makes this embarrassing situation worse.

He seems to kind of find my embarrassment amusing and flashes me a white toothed smile. "Sorry about that. Prince Andrius sent me with a message for a miss Elora. Would that be you?"

I open my mouth to say something but then close it again and just nod.  He hasn't laughed at me yet, which is good, and his smile is so sincere it makes me relax a little.

"I'm supposed to tell you that Prince Andrius is stuck in long back to back meeting and he apologizes for not being able to come see you. He also said he would make sure he has time to come see you tomorrow and that he's sorry." He squints his eyes as he delivers the message as if he's trying to remember everything and I can't help myself but laugh a little, even though I'm disappointed that Andrius can't come visit me.

His gorgeous green eyes widen a little and his ears tinge pink as if I embarrassed him. He kind of looks cute when he's embarrassed. We both kind of stand in the doorway as if waiting for the other to excuse themselves and leave. Then I even surprise myself when I speak up, "Um...sorry what was it you said your name was?"

"Oh, sorry about that. I didn't say before." he rubs the back of his neck and then holds his hand out to me as if he wants to shake, "Kyler Parker."

His hands are fairly big and warm too, especially when compared to my tiny baby hands. It just makes me smile, "Well Kyler, are you on duty still?" I thought I'd ask, I mean apparently Andrius isn't coming to see me until tomorrow so I really don't have anything to do here.

He lets go of my hand which is weirdly disappointing and shakes his head, "No, after this I'm supposed to have the rest of the day off."

The rest of the day off huh? That sounds a lot like what I've got. Except my day would probably just consist of staring at a wall or reading a book.

I bite my lip for a moment, as if that will help me think any more clearly about my decision. When I doesn't, I throw all caution to the winds and blurt out exactly what is on my mind. (Not the whole, you were blessed in the gene department; or the, why are your eyes like that? I want them. I can't stop looking at them, wow; or even the, Why are you smiling like that? I love your uniform, I shouldn't be thinking like this damnit.)

Instead the words I let escape my mouth are, "Do you play poker?"
