I woke up the next morning to the sound of my I gram beeping.

"I-gram accept the call" I groaned.

Carrie's face popped up in the middle of my room " you lazy bum!" she said " we are never going to solve and issues with Titan with you laying around this late in the day."

I looked at the i-gram for the time " Carrie it's seven o'clock in the morning I don't even have a job why would I be up this early?"

"Because I'm outside your pod" she said.

"What Car what are you sayi-"

"Gooooood morning" Carrie walked into my room Matt followed in suit.

"Look we have to do some research on this Titan stuff we have some leads we want to look at" Matt said.

"I'm doing my own research. It's about why we really should have friends who let us sleep in the morning" I grumbled.

"Vanessa come on you are the one who wanted to investigate" Carries said.

"Really?" I said getting out of bed " So it is just me who wants to know why Titan refuses to become our ally? Just me who wonders what this will mean for our planet? If we get Titan we get the Sun and we could truly be part of something amazing. If not we will continue to be the cold planet we have become so don't give me that bullshit about it being me and only me who wants to figure out what is so horrible that the King of Titan literally hangs up on us Carrie. Now if you'll excuse me I said I'm going to bed we can deal with this later" I said pushing them out of my individual pod.

Later that day we once again broke into the ET communications center.

"Well there it is we went through all of the research that is legal and illegal to go through on this golden beauty thing and we can't find anything" I said exiting the search on the air computer and looking at Carrie.

Carrie sighed and slumped down in her chair.

"I just don't get it. What could be so important for a whole planet to hate us? How could we offend that many people?" Carrie said.

"Really bad breath?" I said.

"Shut up" Carrie said laughing.

Matt walked into the ET communications center " Guys I've got nothing. Maybe this is just a thing they have against humans" he said.

"But that makes no sense then why would they even agree to call us then? Something isn't adding up" Carrie said.

"Well. I say we call it a night. None of these leads or these leads' leads have led us anywhere. No reason to break the law any longer just to find nothing" I said.

I was slightly disappointed I had thought that solving this would show to my  mom that I was ready for a job at NASA maybe even the ET communications center.

But then again what's the point of having a job in the ET communications center now? Who are we going to communicate with if we can't even forge a alliance with the Sun?

"Ness it's okay" Matt said nudging me " someone will figure this whole thing out and we can take all the credit for it.  Just like you do every time we played basket."

I laughed. Basket is a game Carrie, Matt, and I used to play back in 2nd term when we were bored in class. I used to always make fun of Matt because he could never beat me.  It's actually pretty simple all you have to do is get a ball like object into a hoop like object without the other person knocking it out of the way

"Hey I'm always up for a re match if you're game" I said using airquotes around the word game.

Matt grabbed a piece of paper out of one of the files " Oh I'm always game to win Vanessa" he said.

"Really guys? Of all the places?" Carries whined.

Matt and I turned towards Carrie  and pouted like two children in our first term "Pleeeeease Carrie?" I whined.

Carries rolled her eyes " alright as long as you're ready to add another player" she said smirking.

Matt threw the paper ball towards the fire basket in the corner and I ran after it, but in the process of what would have been the greatest block in the history of Basket playing I knocked myself into a computer and onto the air keyboard.

"Vanessa! Come on I work here! You can't break things like that" Carrie exclaimed.

"It's okay Carrie I can fix it" I said typing in codes into the computer.

All of a sudden the ET communications screen blinked on. On the screen popped up a boy around our age.  He had dark skin, golden freckles, and brownish golden eyes. On his face were typical Titan markings and he wore standard Titan fashion.

And he was looking right at us.

"Vanessa. What did you do?" Carrie said.
