My Extraterrestrial Romance

chapter 3

  Matt Clery. 

If anyone on the face of the Earth could begin to compare with the complete genius Carrie was it was him.  He also was into the absurd things Carrie was.  Like actually reading.

  Therefore Carrie had been in love with him practically since the moment he opened his mouth in 2nd Term Rhetorical English when we were 11.  Carrie ran right up to him and started debating with him the use of who and whom. I called them both the old slang word nerd, and ever since then it has been the three of us side by side. We even all graduated from 4th term a year early.

  Unfortuantly for Carrie and Matt I was a tad rebellious.  Which didn't really fit in well with our society. 

  That would explain why right now I was hidden in the ceiling of the Extraterrestrial Communications center looking through a vent on my stomach next to Matt. 

"You owe me big time for this." Matt grumbled.

"Hey if you weren't such a great tech geek and small enough to fit in here I wouldn't have asked." I said.

"Will both of you shut up!" Carrie whisper shouted through her earpiece. "One of us is actually on the Titan project."

"I'm sorry Carrie could you repeat what you said?  Did it have something to do with being louder?"I said sarcastically.

Matt laughed. 

Carrie clicked her earpiece off.

"I swear that girl is so uptight." I said.

"Not really.  Just a goody goody.  Although after dealing with you for over 10 years I don't know how she's not pure evil." Matt said.

"Shut up. I'm not that bad.  At least I talk to her.  Unlike you." I said.

"I talk to her!" Matt said.

"Barely." I muttered. 

"Nessa." Matt sighed " it's not that easy. Carrie she's just, she's just-"

"She's what? What is she?" I asked impatiently.

Matt was looking down and not responding.

"What? What is s-" I started then Matt cut me off by putting a finger to his mouth to say be quiet.

I looked down as well and saw that the Titan project team had started to gather around the hologram system showing a Titanian. 

He looked pretty typical for a Titan.  Although we didn't know much about the Titans ( which doesn't explain why I got a 0 in the class ) there were three things we knew about them.

1. Their Kings and Queens and political structure stuff like that.

2.  Their language (although only a few people could speak it fluently ).

3.  They lived on land and water. 

Honestly we didn't know how.  Since we are still trying to join ties between our two planets they keep a lot of things from us.  Something tells me that them living on water and land is part of the secret.

All of a sudden the room went quiet.

"What's happening?" I whispered to Matt.

"I think they are going to start talk-" Matt went quiet when all of a sudden Carrie stood up and started speaking what I assumed to be fluent Titanium to the Titianian man.

"I didn't know she had this big of a part in the project." I whispered.

"Me neither." Matt said back.

Carrie continued speaking and walking around as someone in law might. 

Suddenly the Titanian man yelled out a word I couldn't understand. 

The Titanian man slammed his fist onto a table somewhere and started yelling rapid Titanium.  He was so fast and so fluent that barely anyone in the room could keep up.  Carrie however seemed to be following his every word as if it was the first language she had ever learned. Carrie and the Titanian started going back and forth.  I looked over towards my Mom who seemed to also understand the language extremely well.  That's when I got scared.  She had a look on her face that I've only seen a few times.

The face she gets before she's about to lose. 

I then turned to the hologram screen just in time to see the Titanian man press a button and just like that the hologram disappeared.

"What just happened?" I whispered to Matt.

Thats when Carrie clicked her earpiece on.

"Carrie what was that? What happened." I asked. 

Carrie sighed " that" she said " was the Titanian king rejecting alliance with Earth."
