It was sunset and I could tell that charity was getting tired.
"When can we find a shack?" She yawns and holds on to me tighter trying not to fall off.
"When we are a safe distance from the cops" I keep driving and she starts dozing off. We got to a sign which pointed to a near by town.
"Uh oh."
She looked up worried about why I said uh oh
"Uh oh? What do you mean uh oh?"
I sighed and pointed at the sign and stopped driving.
"Oh poop" I laughed at that comment and I started walking the bike into the town glimpsing through the surroundings. I don't see any people or animals.
"It's just like our town but I don't see any cops." I said nervously searching through boxes and boxes of stuff. I pulled out gloves that were made with no fingers and I threw them at charity.
"Now you can take off the hoodie and just put these on." They were just long enough to cover the markings
"Thanks" she put them on and smiled. I smiled back and digging through a new box. I find another pair and I put them on instead of the hoodie. She wears a blue tshirt that says Life is a Pie and a pie on the back with jeans. She puts her hair in a braid.
"This is more comfortable" she sighed
"Now you know why I forgot to grab my hoodie at the gas station!" She nodded as we started to walk around a bit. I found what looked like an amusement park. We stood at the gate frozen in amazement, at least half of the roller coasters were somewhat in tact and nothing was badly damaged but I wouldn't trust getting on the rides.
"Dollywood?" She read out the fallen sign and then it clicked.
"GAITLINBURG!" She looked at me confused
"What's gaitlinburg?"
"A town in Tennessee" she still wasn't getting it, I forgot we hadn't had states like that since, well, way before I was born.
"Tenne what?"
"Tennessee. Back in the 1800s or so, there were states. It a place where there as towns and cities and little places like that combined into one big place."
"I still don't get it" she looks so clueless
"Have you heard of NY"
"I see that on shirts and stuff!"
"NY stands for New York, which is a state"
"And a city"
"NOW YOU GET IT" I laugh and then I hug her.
"Let's get going" she pulls my wrist and runs in. I looked up and as soon as I realized it was turning night I started pulling her toward the broken Ferris wheel.
"It still seems to be intact. Wanna get on?" She looks hesitant but smiles.
"Sure I guess." She gets in and I push the miniature Ferris wheel making it roll. She closes her eyes and clutches the seat.
"Open your eyes!" I stopped the wheel and I open her eyes.
"O-o-okay..." I started rolling it again until we got to a cafe, once I stopped she had her eyes closed again.
"Let's go in"
