On the Run

Part Five

"JEAN!!" she yells, I quickly search my surrounding and i find a rope that controls the curtain. I climb it, once i get up to the catwalk I cut the rope across from me which makes the light fixture fall on two of the policemen. I jump down proudly and I noticed one of the police that grabbed charity was coming after me with a gun. I put my hands toward them and closed my eyes "concentrate" i thought, while trying hard to use my powers on them. after a couple seconds of awkwardness I used a new power. I shot a burning ball of light from my wrist hitting the man in the chest. he got hit and pulled the trigger as he falled, which ended up with me getting shot in the rib. None of my organs got hit luckily, but my rib was broken. Charity burned her way out of the metal cuffs and beat up the one guard. She got to me and used her ankle to get a wrap. She wrapped my rib up and picked me up. i weigh like nothing so she could easily pick me up. she took me out of the theater and found some ashes and smoke, which means it was recently put out. she went in the circus tent it was infront of and looked around. She put me down and startd healing me. Once i was better, we got up and i was still wrapped to make sure nothing broke or moved out of place. we heard crying coming from
a dressing room. I told her shh and i tiptoed in leaving her behind due to the fact ahe still had the tapshoes on. I opened the curtain and saw a younger boy and a toddler girl. The toddler was crying in the boy's lap while he tried to comfort her and he was tearing up.
"please, dont hurt us" he said, pain in his eyes. I looked at his wrists and at the toddlers and noticed that hey have markings also, but they looked different and a different color.
"dont worry, me and my cousin have markings too." i showed him my marks and I gestured charity to come in also. I sat next to them and the toddler layed in my lap as if she instantly saw me as a mother figure. The little boy layed in charity's lap and she smiled.
Insantly, she takes out her keyboard and played the lullaby my aunt, her mother, would sing to us every night. I start singing

They fell asleep half way into the song and i could tell, they havent slept this good in a long time. Soon after, charity and I fell asleep. Dreaming of how life used to be.
