"It's just a date Clara, it's not like I'm selling you off to the poor guy." Evelyn commented.

I was not a fan of "blind dates" but after my break up a few months ago from a major dirt bag, I was highly considering it. Evelyn felt bad for the way everything ended between me and Eric but she rarely brought it up anymore. She is more focused on finding someone who can fix what he broke in me.

"Besides..." She continued not looking at me, too focused on doing her makeup in the mirror. "I think you will like this guy. He is a close friend of Sam and I think you two would mesh nice." Samuel, Evelyn's boyfriend was pretty mysterious. He was outgoing, but at the same time he kept to himself, like he was holding the weight of the world on his shoulders. They have been together for four years and I could not picture someone better for my best friend.

"Fine. I will go, but I am not expecting anything." I countered. After my last relationship, I did not expect much from the male population. I was with Eric for a year and a half, we got into one fight and then all of a sudden he was done. A month after I found out he was cheating on me with a girl named Gwen. I did not know her personally, but it still hurt all the same.

Evelyn looked at me through the mirror and dramatically rolled her eyes. "Babe, I know that last relationship was lousy and I hope his dick turns to dust." She then turned around and her face softened as she continued. "You have to realize you deserve better, you deserve to get your hopes up and have those hopes delivered, plus some."

Evelyn was normally the one to try and stay away from emotional talk. She would much prefer to make you laugh instead of dwell, but she made me tear with her words. She was right, this whole time I was sitting around thinking it was all my fault and that I did not deserve a good guy. I swallowed that hard lump in my throat and pushed back my tears. "You're right. So, when is this date?"

"Well now that you've finally come around to it." She started to walk towards me and grabbed my arm. "It's tonight, come on, lets go get you ready!" She squealed, pulling me towards the bathroom. "I figured you would come around so I texted Sam this morning telling him to let his friend know its totally on."

It took forever for her to do my hair and makeup but i must admit, it came out good. "The bathroom is a mess, you're lucky we live alone because no one else would be able to deal with you." I teased. We live in a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment. Luckily it also had a full kitchen and a living room. Nothing fancy, just something to get us through college without having to live on campus.

"Aye, I may be a mess but I am the hottest mess you will ever see." She declared and started speed walking towards my bedroom "Now come on, lets go get your damn outfit, we are leaving in an hour."

It was already 8pm and I haven't been on a date in a long time but I was shocked that people go out this late. It's getting close to my bed time. "Okay, okay, I am coming hold your horses lady." I called after her. "She walks fast when she is on a mission." I mumble to myself.

I walk into my room to see her ripping my closet and dresser apart. "Holy shit, you need to go shopping.." She states with a horrified look on her face. I was never one to go clothes shopping, I loved fashion and all of that jazz, but I never had the time nor the funds to show it.

"I will be right back!" She yells and runs out of the room.

"God damn it, now I have to clean your mess." I mumble with a sigh. It takes her a good fifteen minutes or so but when she finally comes back my room is clean and she is holding a beautiful, but short dress.

"I can't wear that." I state. Yes, it was beautiful, the black dress looked brand new but one, too short and two, it was strapless. "My boobs will pop out Eve, no way."

She moves a little bit closer to me holding out the dress. "Pleaseeee Clarie!" She begs with a puppy dog face. "It's your size and I bet you will look amazing! Try something new for once."

I look at the dress and sigh. I do that a lot, I don't know why. "Fine, I shall try on the satan dress, but I am not wear heels then." Evelyn looks down at her other hand holding a pair of heels. "Fine, baby steps I suppose. I will go get you flats while you try the dress on." She then leaves the room, closing the door behind her.

I slip on the dress and turn to look into my wall length mirror hanging up. It did fit perfectly, my boobs were in place and it was not too short. Surprisingly. As I was staring at myself in the mirror I heard a knock at the door. "Can I come in?" I heard Evelyn ask.

"Yeah, the door isn't locked." I called back. She walked in and her eyes almost popped out of her head. "You look...." She started but stopped for a moment. "Amazing. You totally work that dress better than I ever could. Even if i tried, the bar is now too high. Keep it."

As I was walking toward the door getting ready to leave Evelyn stopped me "If you need me, Sam and I will be here, he is coming over in a couple of minutes. Just call and I will rush over no questions asked."

I hugged her and mumbled a "Thank you." I felt like a child going on a first date. As I walked out the main door towards my car it dawned on me. I really am going on a date.
