Amy's POV
We were sitting down on the steps as my dad had something important to tell us.
"Amy, Lou, Shane, don't be mad or anything" he started.
"You have a sister, another sister"
"What?" We all said in unison.
"And she is here to visit, at the dude ranch, for the summer" he added.
I was actually excited, i get a little sister. I mean yes i have a little brother and and older sister, but a little sister is great.
Everyone was dismissed.
"Wait amy" my dad said.
I turned to fave him.
"She has the gift" he informed.
I was beyond excited she could help me with the horses and everything.
"Dad, what's her name?" I asked.
"Alexis" he smiled. "And she is 18" I headed to the barn and saddled up spartan and headed out to the dude ranch.
I found Alexis outside by some of the other horses.
"Hey" i smiled.
"Hi" she said shyly.
"Im Amy, I'm your sister" I said awkwardly.
"Im alexis" she said.
"So you brought your horse" i said gesturing to the trailer on my dad's truck.
"Yeah" she smiled.
"Cool, can i see him?" I asked.
She nodded and unlocked the trailer and took him out.
He was beautiful.
"His name is Spirit" she smiled.
His black coat glistened in the sun and his mane and tail were jet black.
"He's beautiful" i said in awe "do you do any events with him?" I asked.
"Barrel Racing" she said.
I nodded and pet his soft coat.
"If you get him saddled up we can get him a stall at the barn at heartland" i suggested.
She nodded and saddled him up.
"Race ya" i smirked.
"Your on!" She laughed as she took off.
We were tail at tail. But then she sped up. Spartan couldn't run as fast as spirit but it was a fun race.
"He's fast" i laughed as we got to the barn.
"He's gotta be" she smiled as she dismounted.
"Good point" i added.
"I see you two have been bonding" my dad said as he got out of his truck.
"Yup" alexis smiled.
"Well thats great and i have a surprise for you" he said as he unlocked the trailer.
"No way!" She exclaimed.
"Yes way" dad laughed as he took the steer out of the trailer.
"For roping, maybe you and shane could do some team roping this summer, or maybe you and amy, maybe you could teach Caleb a thing or two" he smirked as Caleb stumbled out from the loft.
"Teach me what?" He asked sleepily.
"How to rope" Alexis smirked.
"Your gonna teach me? I highly doubt it" Caleb laughed.
But before he knew it Alexis had already got her rope and pulled him to the ground. And was now tying his arms and legs together.
"Done" she stepped back.
"7.9 seconds" my dad said as he glanced at his watch.
"Ok thats great not bad little rookie, now can you get me untied?" He asked.
We laughed as she untied him.
"Now, who's the girl?" Caleb asked.
"She's my daughter" my dad smiled proudly.
"And my sister" i boasted.
"That explains the roping, your Tim's kid" Caleb said.
"And i have a name, its alexis" she crossed her arms.
"Alexis Fleming, that sounds really familiar" he scratched the back of his neck.
"THE BARREL RACER?" He asked.
She face palmed.
"Yes the barrel racer" my dad laughed.
"No way, your great, is that spirit?" He said as he glanced at her horse.
"Yep the one and only" she laughed.
Caleb was totally fan girling over a 18 year old barrel racer and it was a big deal because she was really good. Like one of the best, i have seen her compete before.
"Hey shane"i smiled as he glanced at the steer tied to the post.
"Hey, and Hi I'm shane, your brother" he smiled to Alexis.
"Im Alexis, your sister, i guess" she laughed.
"Who's steer?" Shane asked.
"Mine" alexis smiled proudly.
"For what? Your a barrel racer" he asked.
"And soon will be team roping" she raised an eyebrow.
"So you got her a steer and you got me a goat?" Shane raised an eyebrow at my dad.
"Because she already ropes goats at her mom's house" my dad nodded.
Shane rolled his eyes and looked at Alexis.
"Who are you team roping with?" He asked.
"Me" I smiled.
"Wait your roping with Amy?" Caleb asked.
"Yup" she shrugged.
"Have fun with that" he muttered and walked off.
"He's a bit impatient and grouchy and didn't like the idea of roping with a girl" i laughed and then spotted Jake coming up to the barn.
"Hey Jake!" I waved.
Jake's POV
"Hey amy, shane, tim, and who are you?" I smiled as I looked The new girl up and down.
"Im Alexis, I'm Tim's daughter" she smiled.
"Im Jake" i tipped my hat down at her.
Everyone left and it was just me and Alexis.
"So Alexis Fleming, wait a second, the barrel racer?" I asked.
She nodded.
"No way your super good and wow I'm a fan" i smiled.
"Thanks" she laughed.
"So your eight-teen right?" I asked.
"Yup" she nodded.
"Well your in luck, have you met mallory yet?" I asked.
"No, why?"
"Well she happens to be around the same age as you and so do i" i laughed.
"Well then I have friends " she laughed.
"Ya"
She was pretty. Really pretty. She had bright green eyes and blonde-brown hair. She was a little short but she was pretty.
"You wanna go for a ride?" I asked.
"As much as i would love to, i don't want to wear out Spirit i have to practice tomorrow for the rodeo in two weeks" she smiled.
"Oh cool, its fine, I'll see you tomorrow then" i waved and rode off.
