The party was amazing. Currently it was around midnight. My Mom and Ashley were still here. My mom is staying at the dude ranch for the week and Ashley is going to see her mom.
After Ashley left i went to my mom's cabin.
"Hey" I smiled as i sat down next to her.
"Hey" she replied "oh i almost forgot your present"
She reached into her purse and handed me a long box.
I opened the top. It was a charm bracelet. There was only one charm; it was a barrel racing charm.
"I love it, thank you mom" i smiled.
As i turned to face her she was crying.
"Mom?"
"Im sorry honey, i just, im sorry"
"Mom, what are you talking about?" I asked.
She sighed and took my hand.
"I wanted to tell you this since you were old enough to understand, but i couldn't bring myself to it" she swallowed and wiped her tears.
"Mom, please, tell me" I said.
"Alexis, your adopted" she finally let out.
"Oh my god" i gasped with wide eyes.
"Im so sorry honey, i should have told you this earlier" she cried.
"Mom, I'm not mad, I'm actually glad because if you never had taken me in, i wouldn't be barrel racing or be with caleb for all we know, thank you" i smiled.
"Honey thats not all"
I shifted and prepared for the whole story.
"Amy's mom, Marion Fleming, she's your mom, After Tim left her, she couldn't take care of you and amy at the same time. You and amy are a year apart, so it was hard to take care of a newborn and a one year old. Lou might have been too young to remember, or maybe she does and she didn't want to say anything. Tim knew about you this whole time but Marion didn't want him near you while he was drinking. I was good friend of hers, so thats how your here. Lou and Amy are your full sisters." She completed.
"So my mom is dead" i said.
She nodded and wiped the last tear.
"I never met her" i sighed.
"I know, and I'm sorry i should have told you sooner, she was a good woman, always putting the animals first, your just like her, you and amy both" she smiled.
I smiled.
"I think we should head off to bed" she smiled.
"Goodnight mom" i smiled.
"Goodnight sweetie"
I started my truck and headed back to heartland.I woke up and remembered what my mom had told me.
I now have my own room, Lou's old room.
I stumbled out of bed and headed to the kitchen.
"Morning grandpa" i smiled.
"Morning" he said.
"Did you know that i was adopted?"i asked.
he nearly choked on his coffee.
"Your mom finally told you?" He asked.
I nodded.
"All along i thought tim was with my mom and had me but really I'm Marion's daughter, so you really are my grandpa" i laughed.
"WAIT WHAT!" Amy, Lou, and Shane exclaimed as they walked in.
"Is it true?" They turned to grandpa.
"Yes, it is, Amy you were only a year old, and Lou, you were probably too young to remember" he said.
"No way" Amy smiled.
Just then my dad walked in.
"Tim, they know, you might want to tell them the whole story about Alexis" he said.
"Yeah, um sit" my dad stuttered.
He finished telling us the whole story and everyone was pretty okay with it and we just kinda went on with our lives as normal.
I headed out to the barn and found Caleb still asleep in bed.
"Get up sleepy head" I said as i barged into his room.
I honestly didn't even need to knock anymore, he won't get up and open it in the morning so there is no point.
I jumped on his bed and landed on my knees.
"Get up" i said as i pulled the covers off him.
He rolled over closer to me and rested his head in my lap.
"Maybe i don't want to" he laughed.
"Caleb today we have to leave for the rodeo, you have to get up, I'm packed and ready to go, just have to put the horses in the trailer" i said.
"Oh yeah" he shot up and got ready as i headed back out to the stables.
It was a six horse trailer. I loaded up spartan, daisy, and shorty, 5 saddles, and 5 bridles, with two extra lassos for each of us.
"Caleb! Amy! Ty! Let's go!" I called.
They nodded.
My Aunt Val gave me an actual camping trailer for my 16th birthday so i have been using that for rodeos that are farther away. Ty was pulling that and caleb pulled the horse trailer.
I waved goodbye to my family as we left heartland. And back to the rodeo circuit I went.
