Alexis's POV
I woke up in Amy's room. Wait How did i end up here?
I turned to see amy beside me on the right of the bed and Mallory to my left. I was in the middle.
It was 5 in the morning, the usual time i get up.
I walked into the kitchen to find Jack and Lou awake.
"Morning Jack, Morning Lou" i smiled.
"You know, you can call me grandpa" he laughed.
"Alright, good morning grandpa" i rephrased.
"I'm making pancakes, you want some?" Lou asked.
"Maybe in a little while i usually eat fruit go for a run and then eat breakfast" i smiled.
"And i thought i was the fitness freak" she laughed.
"Its just i need to be in good shape if i want to win, i just take it very seriously" i laughed.
"I know what you mean" she smiled.
I grabbed an apple off the counter.
"Im going to go for a run" i waved.
I walked out side and started up my truck.
"Where are you going?" My dad asked.
"I have to get my clothes" I said.
"I brought your bag, here" he smiled.
"Thanks" I took the bag and changed in my truck.
As i was jogging I almost had a heart attack when I saw a horse by my side. I had ear buds in so i couldn't hear anything.
"Hey Jake" I smiled.
"Morning" he laughed as his horse kept up with me.
"What brings you here?" I joked.
"I was actually wondering if you wanted to come into town with me, we could go get something at Maggie's" he suggested.
"Sure just let me, um change" i smiled.
"Ok I'll pick you up in about an hour" he laughed and turned back the other way.
I raced to heartland and headed straight for Amy's room.
"Amy, i need help" I said as i walked in.
"With what?" She asked.
"Im going out with Jake to Maggie's" i said.
"Like on a date?" She smiled.
"No just to eat i guess" i shrugged.
"So why do you need my help?" She laughed.
"I don't know what to wear" i sighed.
"Ask Mallory, I'm not and expert at these things" she smiled.
I looked around for Mallory and found her in the kitchen.
"Hey Mallory, i need help, I'm going out with Jake to Maggie's and i don't know what to wear" I bit my lip.
"With Jake? On like a date?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Yes with Jake and no its not a date but i think i kinda like him, and i want to look decent" i shrugged
"Well, I can't help right now I'm kinda busy with, um, help Lou! Yeah with the dude ranch stuff" she said awkwardly.
I nodded and grabbed my bag of clothes and walked into the bathroom.
I decided on just jeans and a cute top with boots and my belt.
My straight blonde hair was brushed out and i combed it into a pony tail.
Good enough.
As i walked out Jake was in the kitchen waiting with Jack and my Dad.
He eyed me up and down and didn't say a word. Until i called his name a few times.
"Oh um, yeah, ready?" He asked as he held out his hand for me to take.
I nodded and took his hand as he opened the door for me.
"You look great" he smiled.
"Thanks, not so bad yourself cowboy" i laughed.
I got in his truck as he started it up and drove into town.
"Hey Soraya!" Jake smiled as he opened the door for me and waved to the young waitress behind the counter.
"Hey Jake, and you must be Alexis, Amy has told me all about you, I'm Soraya " she smiled.
"Hi, nice to finally meet you, Amy told me all about you too" I shook her hand.
I took a seat at the table and we ordered food and chatted a little bit.
We left the restaurant hand in hand.
"So how about that training?" He asked.
"Well I'm not entering in barrel racing this year" i shrugged.
"What are you gonna do?" He asked.
"Team roping with Amy, just have to wait til Amy has her schedule cleared" I said.
He nodded and we got back in the truck.
It was silence for the first few moments and once we got close to heartland i finally said something.
"I don't know if its just me, but I feel like Mallory just kinda doesn't like me" I frowned.
"What do you mean?" He raised an eyebrow.
"I mean, i told her that i was going out to Maggie's and she was all happy and everything but as soon as i mentioned you, She kinda started to give me the cold shoulder" I sighed.
"Ya, Mallory and I used to have some kinda thing, but It's over" he nodded.
"I just don't want her to hate me" I frowned.
"Just give her time" he smiled and walked me to the front porch.
"I'll see you later" he smiled.
"Bye" i waved as he walked off.
As I entered the house i found Katie crying in her carseat.
Where was peter and lou?
"Come here, it's ok Katie girl, its alright" i rocked her and she fell asleep right away.
"How'd you do that?" Lou asked.
"It's just something i picked up on. I used to baby sit and thats just something i learned" i smiled.
"Well remind me to let you babysit one day" she laughed quietly.
"Will do, but uh, is amy around?" I asked.
"Outside working with a new horse, if your not busy maybe you could help" She suggested.
"Ya I'm not busy at all, i'll go see if she needs help" i nodded and ran out towards the barn.
"Hey Amy" i smiled.
"Hey"
"Need any help?" I asked.
"Actually yes, there are two other horses in the barn that i need to look at and maybe since you know how to do this, could you look at them for me?" She asked.
"Yeah sure" i nodded.
"Ok the chestnut Mare next to spartan needs to be broke" she suggested.
"Got it" i smiled.
"Thanks" she said.
I headed to the barn and found the young mare. She looked about three. I grabbed the halter and led her out to the round pen, Amy was working with another horse on the jumps so it was free to use.
She ran in circles around me until she calmed down and joined up.
"Good girl" i smiled as i rewarded her with a treat and a pet.
I worked on just trust all day.
Soon enough it was dinner time.
"Her name's Avalon" Amy said as i put her back in her stall.
"Avalon" i nodded.
"Her owner wants her as a barrel racing horse, so maybe you could train her" she suggested.
"I'd love too" i smiled.
"Great, and you did a great job with her today, I think you did get he gift" she laughed.
"Maybe i did" i nodded.
"You wanna go for a ride tomorrow?" She asked.
"Sure" i smiled.
We walked back into the house and sat down to dinner with the rest of the family.
