I wake with a start, bolting upright in my bed.
I look at my clock. 8:15 a.m.
Huh, I missed the bus. Oops.
I flop back down, closing my eyes. I was so sore from yesterday's training. I broke five punching bags, snapped Daniel's nose, and cracked five of his ribs. I guess it's a good thing we heal supernaturally fast.
I wasn't one-hundred percent sure what to do... So I kick off my covers, slide out of bed, and change into a ripped T-Shirt and some old jeans. I move my cross-necklace out from under my shirt and place it over my shirt. My normal attire for everyday.
I decide to go out into the living room and face Daniel. I've been slacking on my chores lately, it was because my arm was broken for the longest time. It took a month to heal. The longest time it's ever taken for one of us to heal, usually something like that takes about a week to heal completely.
"Yo! Liv! You up?" I hear my brother silently creeping up the stairs. His footsteps are so quiet even I can barely hear them. And I've got some crazy hearing skills. I sigh as he laughs, "Taking that as a yes!"
"Whatcha want bro?" I say, putting my hair in a ponytail.
"Just making sure you were alive." He stops at my door and looks at me. We're twins and we look identical, besides the fact I'm shorter, and I'm a girl. So it's like looking in a mirror. A tall, muscular, guy mirror.
"I gotta go. I have to get to school." I throw my dark, pale green backpack over my shoulder.
"Need a ride?"
"Nope, I'll run."
"You're nuts. But okay." He puts his hands up in defeat, "At least take a jacket so people don't get suspicion." He tosses me his jacket, it smells like home. It smells the way warmth feels, if that makes any sense. He then walks back downstairs. I grab two packs of gum and three candy root-beer barrels, then jump out my window.
At the school, I go to run inside the office, but end up hitting my face against a glass door.
Ouch.
I was in a rush, so I wasn't paying attention to how fast I was going. I rushed into the office and checked in, but I had to explain everything to the main secretary to get a pass. I told her everything, but she looked at me, totally unconvinced. So, I had to break into her head and move some thoughts around to get by.
I rush to my locker to grab my books and drop my bag off, but my locker won't open. After doing the combination a couple times, I finally look at which locker I'm at.
Locker 906.
Crap. Wrong locker.
I get to my locker and switch my bag for my books, then rush to class. Mr. Wall peers at me through his glasses, disapprovingly. But he quickly changes his tone when I put my pass on his desk and go to my seat.
"Ms. Carls," He begins, "You've finally arrived. Would you like to give your de-briefing report?"
My partner, AJ, gives me a shocked look saying You forgot didn't you?
I give him a reassuring smile that is returned with a eye roll and a sly grin, I take my report out of my binder and walk to the front of the room.
"Case number:1407X6504B2307N. Subject: Accusation of Kidnap. Victim: Alexandra Marcus." I take a deep breath and begin, "Fourteen-year-old Alexandra Marcus was walking home from school on January forty-second, two-thousand-fifty-six.
When she heard footsteps behind her. She increased speed slightly and it followed. Alexandra reached for her Pepper-Spray and turned when forty-eight-year-old Michael-Jonathan Lee tackled her, knocking Ms. Marcus out. He then took her to his car and drove to an abandoned warehouse that he did not know had sixteen-year-old Olivia Peyton Carls waiting inside.
Mr. Lee brought Ms. Marcus into the warehouse and laid her down on a couch, tying her up. Ms. Carls waited until he was about twenty feet away to bounce in and attack.
Ms. Carls took a tazer off of a nearby table and tazed Mr. Lee unconscious, she then called police. After that, she woke up Ms. Marcus and untied her, bringing her outside, then ran back inside, putting Mr. Lee in handcuffs.
Police arrived at the scene thirty minutes later and arrested Mr. Lee. Ms. Marcus is currently being held in Lower Manhattan Hospital in New York."
I waited for what seemed like 20 minutes, but was really 30 seconds. I had a long applause from my classmates. AJ was giving me a huge grin. I couldn't help but blush.
"Ms. Carls, that was a wonderful report." Mr. Wall says.
"Thank you, it was simple, really." It was all I could do to keep my face calm and serious.
"Mr. Wall." The voice over the intercom clicks over.
"Yes?"
"Can you send Ms. Olivia Carls to the office please?" My muscles tense. I've never been called up to the office before.
"Sure can." Mr. Wall looks at me. I take the hint, grab my things, and walk to the office.
Oh boy... I've never been called up to the office before. Never. Not even if I did something good. Something's wrong. I'm not sure what.
I walk into the office and see two tall men with supermodel hair and figures. They stop chatting with the principal and they're heads snap in my direction as soon as I walk in.
"Olivia! Glad you could join us, would you join us in my office?" Principal Shepherd asked.
"No problem." My voice is a little shaky, but still smooth and professional. I'm not totally sure what's going to happen. But I follow the two mysterious men and the principal into his office.
"Please, have a seat." Principal Shepherd mentions to the chairs across from his desk. I sit as far away from the models as possible, but as close to the window as possible, in case I need a quick getaway.
"Olivia, we have noticed you have been doing superior in school lately. Extremely superior. Which made me a bit curious, so I invited Samuel and Brian," he motions to the models, "to come and have a little chat with us." He smiles.
"You see Olivia," The guy, who must be Brian, begins, "you remind us of a girl who escaped from a lab about two years ago. She looked just like you and was very clever."
That's where I knew them from. They were the lead general's back at the lab. They were after me and Daniel.
This was not good. Not good at all.
I zone back in just to hear Mr. Shephard sticking up for me, "Well, she can't be an experiment, she's too.... human." Mr. Shepherd says. He tried.
"It would probably be best if we checked." Samuel says.
Hmm, I wonder how hard it would be to smash Samuel and Brian's faces.
I stand, "Go for it." I spread my arms out, trying my hardest not to smirk.
They move towards me, I quickly grab one of Samuel's arms and flip him, then dropkick Brian. Samuel stands and throws me out the window, causing me to hit a concrete wall. I stand and lick the blood off of my lips, "Oh, is that all you got?" I laugh, then pounce onto Samuel and start punching him as fast as I can.
I don't even see it coming, Brian came up behind me and hit the joint between my shoulder blade and my neck. I was paralyzed. I fell off Samuel and couldn't move as Brian memory-sprayed our principal and Samuel picked me up, then literally, I kid you not, threw me into a car and slammed the door in my face. All I could hear was a few mumbles, car doors opening and shutting, then the car being turned on. I saw Brian in the passenger seat, he turns and sticks a needle in my neck, I couldn't move and my eyes were becoming heavy. I heard police sirens sound off, but that's when everything went black.
