It was dawn, the sun just rising over the horizon, and it was peaceful, until I heard my door slowly creak open. Suddenly, my younger brother was yelling at me.
"Addie! Addie! Wake up!" I heard him shout at the end of my bed.
"Five more minutes," I groaned, my face burrying further into my pillow.
"Alright Addie, you asked for it," He said, then proceded to jump on the me.
"Jayden!" I wined as he continually jumped on the bed.
"Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" He said as the bed shook. "It's Monday! And I want pancakes!"
"Fine, fine! Stop jumping, you little snot." I said as I tackled him to the bed and tickled him. He giggled before squirming out of my grasp and onto the floor.
"Race you down stairs, Addie!" Jayden challenged me, before dashing out of my room and slammed my door.
I sighed as I made my way down the stairs to start the pancakes. Mom was away on a buisness trip this week and dad couldn't cook to save his life. I started up the grittle and groan. God, I thought. I hate Monday's.
"Hurry up Addie! Hurry up!" Jay yelled at me, pounding his little fists on the table.
"Yeah, yeah." I muttered as I put the pancakes on and started my coffee. They were done within ten minutes and I finished them off with some syrup.
"Here, be careful, they are hot." I warned him as I poored him some orange juice. I heard him mumble something, causing me to pause and lift one of my eyebrows.
"What was that?" I asked him.
"Mommy always makes them into shapes..." he practically spat, completely disregarding that I woke up early this morning to make him these pancakes he just had to have.
Oh, I thought. So that's how its going to be. "So you want them in shapes?" I asked him. He nodded inthusiacstically, and I smirked. "Dad knows how to do pancake shapes." I almost laughed at his horrified expression, and ruffle his hair a little, causing him to pout and try to fix it. "Just eat."
"Fine." Jayden finally agreed, albeit begrudgingly, as he started to eat.
I went back up stairs after making sure he was done complaining and started to get ready for school. After brushing my teeth, I headed over to my closet. I picked out my favorite clothes, which included a solid black t-shirt, camo pants and combat boots. I took a look in the mirror, and I thought I saw something in the corner smiling maniacally at me. I whipped my head around and saw nothing there. After calming down a little, I made sure the bandages on my hands were secure before brushing my hair in a low pony tail and heading back downstairs with everything I needed for school.
"Aren't you going to eat?" Jayden asked when he saw me grabbing my school stuff.
"I can eat at school. Dad will take you to school right?"
"Right."
"Well, see you later, squirt." I said as I ruffled his hair yet again, ignoring the groan of protest he gave and headed outside.
The school wasn't that far away from my house so I was forced to walk every morning. Some kids my age had their own cars and I might be getting mine soon, which was exciting. I already knew how to drive. All I needed was my car. As I walk into school, I can practically feel the disgusted stares on my back, and that makes me all the happier. You see, I don't like certain things. One of those things just happen to be people. They're mean, cruel, and they try to take your lunch money when they are five years older then you and your only in kindergarden! Anyway, if they are scared of me, the worse they'll do is whisper something about me, which doesn't bother me.
