I walked through the glaring village, rubbing my thumbs together.
Hi, there. I'm Naruto Uzamaki.
Apparently, I'm the new 'hating gossip' spreading constantly throughout the village. Nobody really did care for me like a mother or father would. In fact, I don't even know what it feels like to have a brother-like bond or at least a..
Family.
I sat down at Iruchika's stand and tried to put on the realistic smile I could. "Excuse me, can I have one pork ramen please?", I asked.
He nodded and less than 5 minutes, my order was ready and placed in front of me. I sniffed the smell of tasty noodles. Grabbing the chopsticks, a girl sat beside me (A/N: No, it's NOT Hinata gosh.. but it is one of my made up Naruto character, OC).
She had red and orange and yellow mixed hair with blue eyes, while wearing a turquoise tank top with a shirt and leggings. It seems like she was running since she was panting her head off. She glanced at me and gave one of the most kindest smile ever.
"Hiya! You're Naruto, right?", she said more of a statement than a question. I nodded while slurping up some of my noodles.
"I've been wanting to meet you, ya know? The name's Scarlet! Scarlet Motosan! Nice to meet you!", the girl smiled. I blinked.
'Did she literally just say.. nice to meet you..? TO ME?!'
I stared at her. I blinked three times. No, no! Something's not right here.. she has to be joking right now. I closed my eyes and opened them again.
"You're playing me..", I said, flatly. Scarlet tilted her head to the side, dumbfounded.
"Dont act so innocent! I bet your only doing this because you're more superior than I am! Well, guess what?! I'm gonna be the Hokage one day! I swear!", I snapped at her, narrowing my eyes, and balling up my fists. She blinked and laughed.
"You're funny, Uzamaki! I really like you! Plus, I don't know what you're saying, I'm not superior than you. I never was. Besides, I thought you needed some company so.. I accompanied you", she replied.
I couldn't believe it. A girl actually cared for me. For once, I felt..
Happy.
Me and Scarlet.
It felt so good to have someone who cared for me and was my best friend. Is this really what it felt like? To have a such a great bond like this with others? One day, we were sitting on the swings together, laughing and telling jokes while all the other kids left and went home with each other.
"Hey Naruto-kun?"
"Yeah?"
"You wanna know why I chose you to be my best friend?"
"Sure."
"Because I'm lonely.. just like you".
"...."
That sentence stung my heart with kunai.
'She's lonely. ..? Just like.. m-me? And to think I was the only one in this dumbass village who knew what loneliness truly was. I guess we aren't so different after all'.
"What happened to your family?", I asked, swinging myself, slowly. She looked down at her feet and gave my foot a little tap and I tapped it back.
"I-I don't know. I was living with my mom and my sister and then.. one day they just.. vanished. No trace, no evidence. Nothin", she said, plainly, tearing up a bit. The she turned her head towards me and smiled. "I'm happy I just have someone that understands".
I was happy. I now realize that without Scarlet.. I'm nothing. As long as there's someone in this world who needs me..
That's all I need to be happy.
