I have been stuck on this plane for literally a day now. Although I had slept through it quite well, I was still exhausted.
'We ask that you please buckle your seat belts as we are about to land. Thank you for flying with Quantas Airlines.'
Finalllllllyyyyyyyyyy. I got excited at the thought of getting off this cramped plane.
The taxi man pulled up outside of my old home. He helped me carry my luggage up to the door so as I payed him the cab fair, I threw in a tip. He thanked me and was on his way. I pulled out my set of keys from my handbag and searched for the right one to fit the hole. Within 3 goes, I found the correct one mentally making a note of which one it was out of the five keys.
I swung the door open to be welcomed by the familiar smell of home. Everything was exactly the same. As I looked around, memories flooded my mind. One particular one came to mind.
****** flash back ******
"Daddy! Daddy! I'm five now! I'm a big girl!" I gleamed as I quickly hopped down the stairs towards my Dad's arms. He lifted my up and spun me around. It was early in the morning, yet my mum, brother and father joined together in the lounge room. A small pile of presents were neatly wrapped and stacked along the front of the tv cabinet. My eye's widened and I ran towards them.
"Can I open them now?" I pleaded.
"Hmmmm" My mum pondered. "Oh, go on!" She smiled. I clapped my with excitement then picked up a random one. I felt it before opening it.
"It feels like clothes" I said, thinking I was physic as I opened it to see that's exactly what I got.
"Oh my goodness!" I shouted with glee. "A Blues Clues tshirt!"
I continued opening the rest of my presents. 11 in total. I loved each of them.
"Dad, can you teach me how to play?" I asked, pointed towards the guitar.
"Of coarse sweetie. I'll teach you after breakfast! Mum's made your favorite!" He cheered and tackled me with tickles.
"Dad! Stoppp iiiiit. Stop!" I giggled uncontrollably as he tickled my feet.
After about 20 minutes of playing guitar, I had learnt two chords.
"Dad, I stink! Can we go practice soccer instead?" I huffed.
"Tiarna, you're not going to pick this up in 20 minutes, it takes practice! You'll be a little guitarist in no time! But we can give it a break for now.. I'll race you outside!"
"Be careful you two!" I heard my mum shout from behind me, as I raced towards the back yard. I turned to see dad stealing a kiss from mum. Yuck! Oh well, I win!
*two years later- continuing with the flashback*
"Mum, who was that" I turned from the couch to see her holding onto the bench with one hand covered over her mouth.
"Tiarna get your brother and get in the car, now."
"Mum?-"
"NOW!" Tears were carefully escaping her eye's.
I did as she asked.
"Andrew, quick, come with me. Mum needs you" I ushered him from the door.
"Tiarna, go away! I have to do homework!" He said annoyed.
"No you don't understand. I think it's Dad.." He went quiet, then didn't hesitate to rush downstairs.
We all jumped into the car and quickly walked towards the hospital, and towards his room. All three of us slowed down as we entered.
