Amelia sat on the deckchair on the balcony, her dressing gown wrapped tightly around her.
The only sound was the faint trickling of the pool’s cleaning system and Blake soft snores.
Blake.
The only man she’d truly loved in her life. He made her forget all about Nicholas, about the scars. He made her feel like a princess.
But then there was Lexy Greene. As perfect as a china doll, big brown eyes, chocolate brown hair, amazing, killer body, perfect for Blake...and he loved her.
Was it all just a lie from the start? Was it just about the physical attraction? Or was it because he felt a duty towards her because he was her childhood best friend?
The sun rising was one of the most beautiful things she’d ever seen. Hues of orange, red and golden yellows contrasted with the bright blue sky, frankly stunning...
“Morning beautiful.”
She jumped.
He laughed softly, “Sorry Blondie, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
She shook her head, “That’s okay. Good morning.”
“Indeed it is.” He pecked her forehead, “Breakfast?”
“Fruit Salad please.”
He nodded, “I’ve arranged a day trip today. Is that okay?”
She smiled, “Okay. I’m sure Kaitlin and James will be tucked away for a while anyway.”
He laughed, “Okay then. I’m sure you’re right. I’ll go and confirm our booking online.”
“For what exactly?” she asked
He winked, “For me to know Blondie.”
She scowled.
“Surprises can be good you know.” He chuckled and she rolled her eyes
“Wear something casual. It’s very hot out so wear lots of sun cream baby. I’ll see you downstairs.”
She nodded as he turned, “I won’t be long.”
She sighed, looking longingly after him.
Summoning the strength to get up, she showered and dried her hair, styling it up into an elegant twist.
Her outfit was a hot pink shirt that she tied above her navel, showing off her pink bellybutton stud and a pair of ripped denim shorts. She slipped on a pair of jewelled pink sandals and made her way into the kitchen.
“This okay?” she asked
He offered her a heart-stopping grin, “You look beautiful...”
“Thanks,” she smiled, “Can I get that fruit salad to go?”
He smirked, “Amelia, patience is a virtue.”
She was one shred of dignity away from stamping her foot and pouting like a petulant child.
“Can we go now?”
He chuckled, “If we must.”
She clapped her hands and giggled, “Yay!”
“Oh Mia,” he laughed, “You make me so happy.”
Her giggling stopped. Happy? But I don’t make you happy, that’s the point. If I did then you wouldn’t go to her.
“Mia. You ready to go?”
“Sure.” She made for the door
“What do you think you’re doing?”
