"There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?"

Chapter 7:

Jesus is the only way to God but we are not the only way to Jesus. I've come to learn the very meaning behind the words as I listen to what the preacher says. It's a Sunday and for the first time in my life I sucked up the courage and set foot into God's house. An overwhelming sensation of peace fills me from inside out. Dane glances to me from his side as we sit beside each other and gives me a small smile. I return it happily but let me tell you this day did not start as well as I'd hoped for and it was my fault because I was choosing to see the cons and not the pros. Dane informed me earlier that no church is perfect and there will always be something that I don't completely agree with but to find the right church I had to pray to God and he'd show me the right church, nevertheless Dane had found a Baptist church nearby and we agreed we'd start our search with this very church that we now sit in.

Taking you back in time to all the way this morning, "You ready to go?" Dane asks from the front porch.

I shake my head feeling doubtful and nervous. "I don't even know if what I'm wearing is appropriate. Should I change?" I ask but before he can even answer I decide myself, "I'll go change." I conclude with a stutter.

Dane chuckles before me before grabbing onto my forearm gently so that I can't escape back inside, "It's a casual church. No one will judge you for wearing jeans and a blouse, besides, you look nice." he clarifies the minor details that I had skipped over.

"I do? Are you sure? If you're just saying that then tell me and I'll-"

He cuts me off as he turns his back on me and heads to his black Alfa, "Let's go already Nat. Take any longer and you're going to make us late on our first day."

I hurry over to his car in my heels at his words doing my best not to trip but failing as I clutch onto his car door to prevent myself from slipping on the wet road. If things weren't worse enough it was raining and my hair was becoming frizzier by the second. Dane isn't much help since he stands aside and laughs at me as if seeing me almost fall is the funniest thing in the world. I shoot him a glare which gets him to immediately quieten.

I waste no time in getting in the passenger seat as I would like to prevent being soaked from head to toe when entering the church. Dane gets in the driver's seat and cranks up the engine, "You can drive right?" I ask hesitantly.

"We'll see." he grins but keeps his eyes on the road and by doing this he unintentionally provides me with some relief. If he doesn't take his eyes off the road then it meant he was one of those careful drivers which beats reckless ones. As I recall Blade had always been a reckless driver, even landed me up in hospital for two days and I managed to break my leg. Ever since then I have always been weary of who drives me places but I know that I can trust Dane. "So what's up? Why still so nervous? I thought we've been over this before."

"We have but still..." I trail off in a poor attempt for him to catch my drift.

He chuckles softly, "But still what?"

"What if it's not them that's the problem? What if it's me? What if I suddenly hate the church and the people in it? What if my hatred drives me to the point of never wanting to come again? What if I realize that I am not cut out for this?" I bombard him with questions.

"Nat Nat Nat!" Dane raises his voice just a little in order to catch my attention. "Calm down and tell me what it is that you're really afraid of that you've kept leaving out."
