Loud footsteps were heard through the alley as a black haired, rambunctious, olive skinned, teenage boy walked through, on his way home. It was another usual night, but something about the alley seemed tense. Something was watching him, causing him to put some pep in his step.
A rustle came from a nearby fire exit as a figure jumped down in front of his path, wearing a dark cloak with the hood covering half of their face.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you not to walk alone at night?" A feminine voice asked, a dangerous smile showing from underneath the hood.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you not to sneak up on people?" He returned smartly, his arms crossed despite his fright and surprise.
"You know I wouldn't be making sarcastic comments if I were you." The female noted, letting her smile grow to show her fangs.
"Whoa, what kind of toxic milkshake did you eat!" He replied loudly, taken slightly aback by her appearance.
Had he been able to see her bright red eyes, he would've seen that she rolled them at that comment. "Let's just get this over with, now shall we?" She asked in a sarcastically sweet voice.
His brow furrowed with confusion. "Get... What over with?" Her grin turned into a smirk, "This," Almost faster than he could comprehend, she was in front of him. The next moment, he was on the ground, and everything turned dark.
The female pulled off her hood to reveal dark blonde hair and her red eyes and bared her fangs, ready to bite, when a voice came from nearby.
"Is it Monday already Jay?" A deep male voice asked. She sighed and straightened, not caring to look back.
"Yes, yes it is," Jay replied to the man "Now what is my good old Elite stopping by here for?"
The so-called Elite motioned to the boy on the ground "Well, because you aspire to be an Elite yourself, I'd suggest you getting a trainee. It's required for promotion, after all."
She glanced at him with a raised eyebrow "This boy? Are you sure?"
The boy stirred and slowly opened his eyes, hearing most of the conversation. "What's so wrong with having me..." He asked groggily, still half asleep.
Jay glanced back at him, "If he's still partially conscious after that he must be strong for a human. So I suppose so. If he stays with us he'll be a good asset if anymore raids happen."
The Elite nodded, "Good choice. I'll check on the both of you within a week's time." He turned and took a few steps away before his form changed into a small creature, a bat, and quickly shot off into the dark night.
Jay turned back to the boy, "You may want to go back to being unconscious." She stated.
And before he could have a reaction, she bent down and bit him, causing him to do so.
