Chapter Seven

A figure walked out of the shadows, both of the vampires looking at him, fear in Jay's eyes and surprise in Silvano's.

"F-father?" Silvano muttered out of disbelief, watching his father calmly walk by Jay, who looked at Silvano confused, his boots clacking against the floor loudly.

"Yes. I see you're still as unmannerly as ever," he criticized, brushing his hand against Jay's face, who tried to move away, her eyes going blank as she went back to muttering in the ancient language to herself, occasionally glancing between the two, trying not to scream again from the pain shooting up her legs. Silvano grit his teeth and clenched his fists.

"Leave her alone..." he threatened, trying to move forward towards his father despite the barrier emitting from the cross.

Jay glanced over at Silvano, "C-cross..." She muttered before closing her eyes tightly, letting out a scream from the pain before she could stop it. Silvano's heart raced, accidentally lighting his hands on fire, and desperately attempting to swing them at his father.

"It's a shame..." the adult sighed, running a few fingers through Jay's hair, "Such a pretty face gone to waste..." Silvano snapped, his anger erupting, shooting hot, searing fire out of his hands, barely missing Jay. It shot the center of the wooden cross, causing it to snap as Jay collapsed, yelping.

"S-Silvano!" She yelled at him as she collapsed on the floor, still unable to move from the silver but barely out of the light. In a few minutes though it was obvious it would reach her again. He rushed forward and picked her up as gently as possible. Silvano's father laughed deeply, the sound resonating throughout the room.

"How cute... My failure of a son finally landed a girl." he taunted.

"You probably haven't with a name like Herald," Silvano retorted. Jay looked at him, eyes barely staying open.

"D-dark vampyre l-leader..." She muttered quietly, wincing "C-careful..." Another loud laugh emitted from the Vampyre leader's mouth.

"He's too afraid to fight me. So why would he be in danger,"

"I'll fight you..." Silvano whispered at a barely audible volume.

"What?"

"I-I said I'll fight you... Might as well do it sooner or later...." with that Silvano carefully placed Jay against the wall as comfortably as possible with her burns. Herald's eyes widened slightly in surprise.

"Finally my cowardly son is taking some risks,"

"Just shut up and fight... If you're gonna pick on girls for fun then I expect you to be a lot of bark but no bite." Silvano said before raising his hands to protect his face.

"T-team... M-Max..." Jay muttered quietly before closing her eyes, the pain taking weight mentally. Silvano glanced over his shoulder at her, Herald taking the advantage and swinging at his exposed temple. The world spun, causing him to fall to the floor. The dominating adult laughed and kicked him in the chest, sending him to the floor and knocking the wind out of his lungs. After quickly recovering Silvano staggered to his feet and swung a few off target punches at Herald's gut that were easily blocked. Herald uppercut punched him in the bottom of his chin, causing him to sprawl back to the floor. Silvano breathed heavily and stood once more, swaying as the world continued spinning faster and faster.

A brown wolf dashed into the area, slowing down and changing form as he neared Herald to reveal himself to be Max, a nasty wound losing blood on his shoulder.

"We need to go. Now. I didn't anticipate so many or so soon, they'll wipe out the loyal pack members if we don't leave." Max told him in a gruff voice, not paying attention to the two younger vampires. Nearby, gunshots could be heard from fighting. Herald sighed and kicked Silvano in the shin before following Max out the door. Silvano crumbled as the floor grabbed him and laid him down. He faintly heard footsteps coming from one of the hallways and spotted vampires dashing towards him just as his vision went black.
