Chapter 5 Snowy

You stepped out of the warmth of the Ruins into a very cold forest. There was one straight path, and you couldn't see too far ahead of you. You walked slowly and cautiously, making sure not to make a huge amount of noise. That was hard, for the snow was crunching loudly under your feet. As you walked, you noticed a large branch in the middle of the path. You tried to pick it up, but it was too heavy. So you continued walking.
Suddenly, you heard a huge crack behind you. You whipped around to see the large branch broken into three pieces. You started to panic. What kind of monster could crush something that heavy like it was nothing? You began shivering, and you realized it wasn't only from the cold.
As you walked, you saw what appeared to be a gate. As you approached it, you saw a little gap where there was no ground, and a small bridge connecting the two pieces of land. You were about to take a step on it when...
    Crunch.
You heard footsteps approaching loudly. Your shoulders immediately tensed up, and you froze where you were. When the footsteps stopped, you couldn't hear anything. You thought nothing was there, when you heard something speak.
    "Human."
A shiver went down your spine when you heard this. Who or what ever was behind you was breathing on the back of your neck, causing you to shake uncontrollably.
"Don't you know how to greet a new friend? Turn around and shake my hand."
The ominous voice hung in the air for a good 10 seconds as whatever it was waited. You turned around slowly with your eyes closed. You opened one eye and looked down at the hand. Your eye was barely open, so all you could see was white and a hint of pink. You closed your eye again, and reached your hand out. You grabbed the hand, and....
You heard a very loud fart noise.
You burst out laughing, and with your free hand you clutched your stomach as you reeled over. Whoever was on the other side started chuckling.  When you finally stopped laughing, you took in what you knew about the stranger. They had a sort of deep voice, and their hand was cold and hard, almost like a...
You opened your eyes to see yourself holding hands with a skeleton.
"... Bone..." You finished your thought out loud, and he tilted his head.
The skeleton was only a little taller than you ((or if you're tall, he was only a few inches shorter)) and was slightly big-boned. He wore a dark blue hoodie with fur around the hood. He wore black basketball shorts with one white stripe on each side. He also wore sort of long socks and light pink slippers. His face was round and cute ('wait... Cute??' You thought to yourself.) with an almost permanant grin on his face. You thought we was sort of... cute. You felt your cheeks heat up a little, but pretended it was just from the snow. Your hand slowly slid to your side, and he looked puzzled.
"Umm, you okay kiddo?" You snapped out of your slight trance and chuckled a bit.
"Oh! Uh, yeah sorry. What was that anyway?"
He held up the hand that you shook. There was a pink whoopee cushion taped firmly to his hand.
"The old 'whoopee cushion in the hand' trick. It's ALWAYS funny." You giggled.
"You bet it is!" Now it was his turn to laugh.
"Anyway, I'm Sans. Sans the skeleton." Sans waved a little to add character.
"I'm Y/N. Nice to meet you!" You smiled. "So why are you out here?"
"I'm supposed to be on the watch for humans..." Sans rubbed his neck and you began to tense up again.
"... But I don't really care for capturing anybody." He shrugged. You exhaled in relief, but he started talking again.
"Now my brother, Papyrus, on the other hand..." You rolled your eyes and his eye.... sockets... looked over to the side.
"He's a human hunting FANATIC." He finished. He looked over at you, and then beside you. "Hey, I think that's him over there." You quickly spun around to see, and thought you saw some little streaks of red in the distance. You turned back to Sans, and he winked calmly.
"Here, go through this gate that my bro made. Yeah, go right through it; he made the bars to wide to actually stop anyone." You raised an eyebrow, but Sans gave you a small push. You kept walking so not to lose your balance. You stepped into a little clearing and he stopped you.
"Hide behind that conviniently-shaped lamp." He pointed over at a lamp. It was a little too... small, for you to hide behind. You decided to hide behind a nearby stand that seemed like it was supposed to be a sentry station of some kind.
"Uhh, that works too, I guess.." Sans rubbed the back of his neck. He quickly fixed his posture to his regular pose with his hands in his pockets as we heard loud footsteps approaching. His smile widened as you heard someone screaming something whilst approaching.
