You felt that small tingle again and noticed your soul. After engaging in many fights with monsters, you already felt used to this feeling. But this was different.
You didn't only feel the soul, but you felt something in the pit of your stomach.
Nausea.
You get this a lot when you feel like you've dissappointed someone or something. You staggered a little and looked up at Toriel. She looked more serious than she has ever looked, but you could see sadness in her eyes.
You saw fire coming at you from the right and left. You did you best to dodge them while clutching your stomach, but you still got hit. As soon as you got hit, Toriel stopped the attacks. A weak spot.
You didn't do anything between her attacks, and instead just smiled and got hit. Eventually, she spoke.
"... What are you doing?"
That was not what you were expecting, and it startled you. She hit you again, and you felt very weak. But you still refused to fight back.
"Fight me or leave!" Toriel's voice shook. She didn't want to fight either, but she wanted to protect you. She stopped attacking you completely, but made an effort to look like she was trying.
You looked up at her, and noticed she was crying. You both sat there for a few moments, her telling you to fight or leave, and other things among those lines. Then she stopped.
You looked down. She seemed normal when you did, but when you looked up, she was crying. You tried to stand up, but your wounds hurt too much. Your own tears brimmed on your eyes as she chuckled.
"Heh... Ha ha... I can't even protect a single child...."
"Toriel..." You start. You stand up and rush over to her. You hug her tightly, like the world was about to end. She looked at you, surprised.
"I don't want to go home. I just want to be able to meet new friends, and more people like you. I just wanted you to understand...." You manage to say without crying. Toriel hugged you back, and sighed.
"I understand, my child. You can go ahead. Just call or visit sometime, alright?" You nodded.
"Oh, and is there another name I can call you? You will always be my child, but I would like to look at you as an equal sometimes." She smiled down at you.
You wiped your eyes. "Y/N." You stuttered. "You can call meY/N."
"That's a pretty name!" Toriel laughed. "Well, goodbye Y/N." She quietly added: "Be safe, my child." She pushed you a little towards the door. You sighed.
"Well, I guess... See ya later, alligator?" You rubbed you neck and turned to Toriel.
She giggled. "In a while, crocodile." You both grinned and she waved goodbye. As the door out of the ruins closed, you looked back and thought you saw Toriel...
Crying.
Your eyes widened as you saw this, but the exit slammed shut behind you. You rubbed your eyes, thinking that you yourself were crying, even though you weren't. You were about to turn around...
"Clever. Veerrrrrryyyyyy clever."
You whipped your head around when you heard a very familliar voice. There he was. The bullshit flower.
"What do you want, Flowey?" You snapped at him.
"You think you're so smart. You spared the life of a single person. You can't do that forever you know." He smirked.
"Says who?" You replied. "I can do whatever I want." Flowey sighed.
"When will you ever learn? In this world..." His face shifted.
"IT'S KILL OR BE KILLED."
He laughed manaically, and it made you shiver. The laughter rang out into the darkness, and he dissapeared into the ground.-
