"Oh cool," I said, "that's where I'm going." Cane nodded. "Maybe I'll see you around." I nodded too, "Oh hey, I'm having a small get together; it's a pool 'party,' why don't you come?" I asked him. He gave me a smile, kind of like a smirk, "Sure. I'll be there. See you," he said, and went back inside. Guess Mom's staying for a bit, then going back to work. I got back to my house and prepared snacks and such.
The first one to come over, was of course, Cane. He does live across the street from me. It makes sense. I opened the door, and he was standing there in shorts and his shirt from earlier. "C'mon in. My friends will be here shortly. I'll introduce them to you when they get here," I said, "So, just make yourself at hom." He nodded and sat down. "You know.. you're lucky," I said, sitting across from him. He rose an eyebrow, "How is that?" I gave him a smile, "Well. You'll already know people who go to the school. Most people don't." He nodded, smiling a little.
The next person to was Mel, but not with Cass. "Where's Cass?" I asked her as she walked in. She let out a sigh, "She's busy with her club activity." I frowned. Mel turned and saw Cane, "Who's this?" she asked. "Oh. This is Cane Remington, he just moved across the street. Cane, this is my best friend Melanie Velvet," I said, introducing the two of them. Cane nodded towards Mel, and Mel smiled. She whispered to me, "If I weren't focused on Adrian, I'd fall for him in a heartbeat." I shook my head with a smile. I knew she would fall for Adrian.
Just as I closed the door, I heard the beep of Zander's car and a knock on the door. Mel laughed at me, and went to the backyard with Cane. I opened the door, and was immediately greeted by a loud voice. "Hey Stell!" a cheerful Blake said. "H-Hey..." I said, still not used to him. Zander was about to say something, but stopped. He looked around. "What's wrong?" I asked him. He looked back at me, "It's... nothing." I shrugged it off and led them to the backyard, where Mel was sitting at the edge of the pool, and Cane was on the steps.
I heard Zander mutter something about "R....er" I couldn't hear the middle. Just as Cane saw Zander, he slipped into the pool. "Zander, Blake, these are my friends, Melanie Velvet and Cane Remington," I said. Zander just gave a nod, and Blake hopped into the pool. I sat at the edge and Zander sat next to me. "So... are you going to tell me what's wrong with you?" I whispered to him.
"I sensed something... but the smell of the Normals is really strong, so I think it's just my imagination," he answered. I tied my hair up, "What do you mean?" He sighed, "It's a mistake, but I thought I sensed a Reaper." That sent shivers down my spine. A Reaper? "I sensed one at the school too, so..." he continued, but started to trail off. "So...?" I asked. "So I just thought... it could be your friend. That Cane guy couldn't have possibly been it, I would've sensed him before," he said calmly. No... it can't possibly be Mel... I've known her since the beginning of Junior High!
I glared at Zander, "You're wrong. It can't be her," I said. "I didn't say that she is one. I said she might be. I hope she isn't," he said, "I'm hoping the Normals smell is just messing with my head." I took a deep breath. It couldn't be Mel... Maybe someone's watching at all times.
We spent our time hanging out for the rest of the day. After two hours, Mel had to leave. "Sorry guys, my dad's been texting me. Gotta go. See you next week!" she yelled, and left out the door. The rest of us sat in the living room for a break, and that's when my mom stopped by to pick up some things. "Ella! I'm back! I needed to pick some stuff up!" I heard her call from the front door. My mom walked in the living room, and saw Zander, Blake and Cane. She coughed, "Ella, you didn't tell me they were all guys," she said.
Zander tried not to laugh, and thankfully, succeeded. "Mom, it's fine. Plus, Mel was here earlier, she just had to leave," I said, standing up to greet her. She gave me a look that said, "It's fine if it were CAne since I actually met him, but the other two, I haven't met." Blake woke upand sat there quietly. Zander stood up, "I'm sorry for disturbing, Mrs. Twilight. I won't come unless it's alright," he said politely. What the hell is he trying to pull?
My mom blushed, "Oh... what a gentleman. Carry on, I'm sorry for being so..." she trailed off. "Protective?" Zander began, "That's alright. If my sister were in a room with guys I didn't know, I would be too. "He smiled, and my mom did too. "I didn't catch you guys' names," she said. Zander held his hand out, "My name's Zander Drake, and over there is my... cousin Blake Keegan." Mom shook his hand, "Nice to meet you, my name's Serena. Feel free to stay for a while. I'm heading to work, have fun you four." Then she left. "You guys are all lucky my dad isn't in America. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to step foot on the perimeter," I said. Blake let out a laugh, while Zander and Cane both smiled/smirked.
