After reaching the antler creek clearing, Gabby, Laiya, and Alan decided to rest. A few minutes later, the other members of the herd started waking up. Laiya wasn't going to wake up anytime soon, which gave two other deer time to plan a surprise.

Laiya yawned and blinked her eyes, ending her nap. When she opened her eyes fully, she noticed a doe wearing a long necklace made of leaves fashioned to look like a "scarf" looming over her. Laiya jumped back, terrified of who was looming over her. After a few seconds of pure fear, she realized who it was standing above her. The frightening doe was actually her (almost) harmless friend Nicole, who was now standing and laughing with another doe who went by the name "Mush." Nobody except her knew her real name, and even she started to forget. Laiya glared at the two, her face turning red with anger and embarrassment, and started to walk off, flicking her short, white tail. The giggling stopped. Mush ran off, not wanting to get involved, while Nicole trotted up to Laiya, trying to explain. Laiya continued to walk, ignoring Nicole.

"Dude look, I'm sorry. It was just a fun joke." Nicole apologized. Laiya stopped in her tracks and turned around. It seemed like steam was coming out of her nose. Nicole started to back up, but her efforts of escape were useless. With every step Nicole took back, Laiya took a step forward.

"You think everything is a joke, don't you! It's all just fun and games, apparently. Well I have feelings, too! And right now i'm feeling pretty angry." Laiya lectured, pushing Nicole further and further until she was backed up into a tree. Laiya snorted hot air and glared at Nicole. Nicole looked downright terrified. Suddenly, Laiya's glare softened, along with her mood. She giggled and backed up, allowing Nicole to get up.

"Wow, you're right, that was fun!" Laiya chuckled. Soon, Nicole was giggling too. It was as if they had come to an agreement without even having to speak it. After a little while, the does' stomachs were grumbling.

"We should go look for something to eat before we starve to death" Nicole joked, still giggling a bit. Laiya nodded, and soon the two were on their way to look for anything that could satisfy their ever-needing stomachs.
