With every little beat

I stood in awe. I cannot believe what just happened. Luke Rivers might actually like me? Just thinking that sends shivers up my spine.

"You don't h-hate me?"

Great now I'm stuttering.

My heart was beating so fast I think he could hear it. But he just stood there with a blank expression on his face.

"I-"

Before he could finish what he was saying two boys came rushing through the door.

"HEY LUKE YOU NEED TO-"

Sam Clifford paused what he was saying when he saw me. Sam is Luke's best friend along with Rick Woods. They are also extremely popular and are both really hot, they practically have girls drooling over them. Unlike Luke who actually has girls drooling.

"Um are we, interrupting something?"

Sam pointed to the both of us.

"No I was just telling this freak that she annoys me" he stated as he ran his fingers threw his hair.

"At first I thought you two were dating since your alone together" Sam chuckled

"As if. Look at her" he held out his hand in my direction

"I can do way better" he laughed

I don't see what is wrong with me. I don't dress trashy like the other girls in school. I would prefer my sweat pants, converse and an over sized hoodie than a mini skirt and heels.

"Haha I remember when I first saw her. I thought she was a guy" Sam said and Luke started laughing.

"Guys, stop your obviously hurting her feelings" Rick was always the nice one. I'm surprised he hung out with these jerks.

"It's okay Rick. I'm fine. I don't care" I flashed a weak smile.

"Yeah just look at you. You obviously don't care if you look like that. Maybe that's why no one would date you or even want to be around you" Luke was still laughing while he talked.

This hurt. I don't know why, I usually don't let this stuff bother me but it hurt a lot. I turned away and walked to the kitchen to get what I needed. I tried to hold back the tears that stung the brim of my eyes.

Luke's POV.

Say something Luke.

"I-"

The boys burst through the door and I knew I had missed the chance to tell her. I couldn't let the boys know about what I was going to say so I have to cover it up.

"Um are we, interrupting something?"

Sam pointed to the both of us.

"No I was just telling this freak that she annoys me"

"At first I thought you two were dating since your alone together" Sam chuckled

"As if. Look at her" I held out my hand in her direction.

"I can do way better" I tried to laugh

She looked at me with her beautiful blue-green eyes. I think I felt my heart stop when we locked gazes, but I couldn't let the others know I was turning red, or that my heart was about to explode.

"Haha I remember when I first saw her. I thought she was a guy" Sam said and I started laughing. It was true though, when she first moved next door three years ago, she dressed like a boy. She still does.

"Guys, stop your obviously hurting her feelings" Rick said looking at Sam and me seriously.

"It's okay Rick. I'm fine. I don't care" she smiled at him. I felt a sudden urge to hit Rick in the face.

"Yeah just look at you. You obviously don't care if you look like that. Maybe that's why no one would date you, or even want to be around you" I threw my head back laughing, trying not to make it obvious I was jealous she smiled at him.

I regretted what I said when I saw her walk away. I could always tell when she was upset because she would clench her fist and put her head down.

"Why did you come here?" I asked the guys bluntly when she left the room.

"We wanted to tell you about the party tomorrow. It's at Maddy's house so it's gonna be a killer party" Rick stated while Sam was trying to control his laughter.

"I'll think about it but you guys gotta go. If my mom comes home and sees you, she will flip" I pointed to the door

"Is she still mad about us egging a house?" Sam finally stopped laughing.

"Yes she is. But I'll talk to you guys later" I opened the door trying to rush them out so I can talk to Renee.

After they left I started to go toward the kitchen. I hope she isn't crying....
