A truth be told

A couple years later.

Joeys POV

Again i had this dream with me and Daniel at the fair on the ferris wheel. Every couple months i have the exact same dream but it always ends at the same spot, Daniel leaning in towards me. Im not a dream expert but I don't know if this means anything in particular, i think it should because it keeps reoccurring. 

It was the first day of summer break after the end of grade 9 and me and Daniel had made a list of things to do this summer. The first one we decided to do was go swimming at the beach. I was glad we were going swimming today because it was soo hot out. I made sure i got my goggles and water guns so we could have a water gun fight if we wanted. I also grabbed the best sunblock we had and sunglasses. After i head over and get Daniel, we can leave. The only thing that sucks is that it's about a 30 minute drive to the beach. When we got there, me and Daniel bolted for the water, its like we've never seen water ever in our lives but i mean were gonna have fun. Later on we went and got icecream, i chose chocolate and Daniel got strawberry. We walked along the path leading away from the beach while we ate our icecream. Once i finished mine i asked Daniel what else we should do while we were there. He said we could go chill on the swings and talk, so i said sure. We didnt talk about much, only the important things like what else is on our list and just plans in general. On our way back Daniel asked me if i wanted to ride on my shoulders part way, i said sure and hopped on. It was nice to see the beach from a higher view, Daniel ran and threw me into the water while he grabbed the water guns.

When it was time to go home we made sure to stop by the icecream truck for one more round. We headed back home and we decided just to have a sleepover because we were having so much fun. After we ate instant mac and cheese for dinner that wasn't that good, we climbed up onto Daniels roof to watch the sunset. We started a habit of going up on his roof sometimes to do that. As the sky started turning purple Daniel rested his head on my shoulder, he has never done that before but i guess he was just tired after our long day of swimming.

Daniels POV

Me and Joey had created this list of things to do this summer, today we were going to the beach. Most of the day we swam and got icecream. The funnest part is when i picked Joey up and threw him into the water.

We had just decided to have a sleepover because they day was so fun and i didn't want it to stop. We started this habit of going up onto my roof to watch the sunset. My favorite part is always when it turns purple. Today i decided to lean my head on his shoulder, it was actually quite comfortable. I had been developing a little crush on Joey since the beginning of grade 9. Joey is just so cute and funny, and his smile always brightens my day. Hopefully he doesn't find this weird. After a while Joey asked my a question.

"Hey Daniel?" He said

"Yes"

"Be honest" he said with a questioning tone "who would you date out of our class?" 

I feel as though i should probably tell Joey that im gay before he asks me more questions like this. I dont want it to be awkward everytime we talk about this stuff. I don't know how he will feel about this. Hopefully it doesn't damage our friendship in any way. Hopefully he will be very accepting and supportive.

"Hey Joey?" I ask

"Yes Daniel?"

"I don't know how to say this but..... Im gay"
